Why the fuck can only premies search for a user? You can search for posts by a user as a non-premie and find any user with >0 posts just as fast, and cause more pain to the database in the process. I am not sure I understand the logic of this.

While we're at it, can someone go back and fix rewrite the CrazyCode parser? Someone CrazyJ fucked it up in yet another display of response to the [quote] non-premie Javascript embed shit his complete finite state machine fail a few years ago, and now you can't layer [quote] tags, which is pretty fucking gay.

what's funny is there were like three seperate bugs in the parser he fixed on different occassions in response to my demonstrating that, yes, in spite of his best efforts you could still embed arbitrary javascript as a non-premie

but I digress

one of them lets you put in part of someone's username and it returns all the names that contains that string.

The other requires you to know (and spell correctly) the entire username. And if you already know the username, what's the point of searching?

I'd say that's a sufficient perk to being premium.

^^ thanks i appreciate the offer. obviously i'm not the owner of this site, so i won't be making any sweeping modernizations any time soon. the access i do have i feel should be used for small fixes, updates, helping users and unofficially for providing personal entertainment through modifications to expected site behavior

should the opportunity come up some day for me to become the owner, i would aspire to bring this site into the 21st century, and as part of that i have thought about recruiting some of the more technically skilled users for any contributions they might be willing to make
