I know other threads exist discussing Fairfax, its usually in comparison to somewhere else.

I just moved here and so I'm interested in finding out what is good here....restaurants and bars specifically I guess. I figured itd be easier to just pull all information together in this new thread.

Thanks

To answer your post, I've been to Blue Iguana for a Skins game. It was a fun atmosphere.

There's a whole lot of chain restaurants/eateries out there that are good too like Coastal Flats, Rio Grande, Pei Wei, Potbelly's, and Five Guys.

seems better than Reston at least

The only time I really make the drive is to visit the massive Whole Foods at Fair Oaks, which is the flagship location for the east coast and a pretty ridiculous grocery store with an amazing variety of food. And in addition to the standard hot and cold bars, it's got three "restaurants" inside...a smokehouse, seafood, and Asian. And cheap microbrews on tap.

i'd recommend the "kitchen sink" at the smokehouse

probably around 2.5 to 3 pounds of four different meats, three sides, and cornbread for under $15

NOVA is good if you like yuppie suburban hellholes.

(if you like Cary with terrible traffic, for example)

Yeah, I love Old Town....we used to visit there every Christmas..

So where are the best places around (all district areas) for foreign food? Any culture, I'm open to try anything....closer to Fairfax the better though

i lived in Sterling and Herndon a good part of my life, it was cool when i was there but the more i grew up the ruder it seemed people would get, lots of things to do there and good bars. i went back when i was about 21, to visit, and to see old friends just stay the fuck away from tysons corner. it fucking sucks and its a nightmare

haha, really? I've had people tell me to head up there. Bad traffic? Rude people? Whats bad about it?

I'm a North Carolinian through and through (minus any form of accent; dont know how that happened) so I've never really had to deal with a lot of rude people

I work in Tyson's (sometimes). It's a bunch of office buildings and two big ass malls. I wouldn't go looking for culture there, or Fairfax really, if that's what you want. You need to go into Arlington and DC for that.

But, if you want restaurants and bars, they are all over northern Virginia. Anything you want you can find between Loudoun, FFX, and Arli counties.

I went to Coyote Grille tonight for dinner. The fish wrap was really good. Any opinions on the place? Its off of Main St. Is that around GMU? Any other recommendations for that area?

Thanks Luna, I'll have to check that out next.....I'm 24 and just out of college, for the most part, so a younger crowd isn't bad.....as long as there is no beer pong....soooo sick of that shit
