Article was from 2005Though I haven't researched it, I doubt that every direct tv customer will have to have all thier boxes replaced in the near future. But, if anyone is interested, i would recommend calling direct tv w/ model number and asking if it will work.

^^^ Oh, and today when direct tv installer was here correcting some issues with hddvr at the crib, he verified that infomation above about customers having to replace older models like the one i just sold is bsjust fyi
