I've tried a couple threads there in my time and encountered what basically seems to be debate club failures trolling for the win. It seems like trolling is the rule there, and I don't mean the basic "shock value" kind of trolling, but the supremely ignorant flavor that is usually punctuated with capital punishment or revolution. I think we should keep theDuke866 as a mod and probably replace synapse and that ncsuftw fag with him, because he's fucking awesome and had a turbo Miata, but everyone else who has >10% posts in TSB and has posted the phrase "ad hominem" or "strawman" in the last.... honestly, ever. Ever. Just fucking terminate them, this site would be better off without such masturbatory pedantry

There are about a dozen people who are legitimately very sharp. Well informed, of sound judgement, and good at presenting and defending their points.

At the other extreme are all varieties of raging dumbasses. As a rule, they come in, make a few posts, get utterly and embarrassingly schooled and made to look totally infantile, then realize that they are hopelessly out of their league, and leave.

In the middle are the other 75% who know enough to fool themselves into an inflated self-opinion. They make half-cocked arguments for positions that they apparently haven't really thoroughly evaluated, but unfortunately are convinced that they have all the answers, unlike any dumbass who disagrees. Some of these people are simply not as well informed as they think they are. Others are walking references of all sorts of knowledge, but still can't formulate a truly well-thought out position most of the time (most of the various ideologues fall into this category).


...and no, I don't know of any solution. It's just the way things are.
