i think black kids beat HUR up in elementary school.why you such a hater? It's like you get a hardon every time a black guy gets in trouble.are you just as proud of your white trash kin?
12/30/2008 8:55:30 PM
^Noooo 10'000's of blacks rallied the streets of this LA to bitch about racism and white people holding blacks down. Somehow excusing Mychel Bell and Co. from nearly beating a kid to death bc of the mean white people. Even though he had 3 prior assault charges against him surely he did not deserve an attempt murder charge since he was merely "self-defending" himself.I hope every protester feels like an idiot.
12/30/2008 9:08:22 PM
You're without a doubt a pretty serious racist and in denial about it. That is what joe is getting at.
12/30/2008 9:58:35 PM

^Dude, from what I've read, three of those kids have managed to do quite well, despite massive amounts of media scrutiny.I dunno. It just seems really harsh to write kids off, even the "little thugs" and the "racist white trash idiots."I understand getting caught up in the heat of the moment and saying silly shit, but it's been a while since the incident. Since then, Bell's father and mother have both been charged with assault in separate incidents, and the kid has shot himself. I'm more likely to attribute his behavior to stress, mental illness, teenage dumbassery, etc...than to let the racist in me chalk him up to a "little thug."[Edited on December 30, 2008 at 11:03 PM. go figure Bridget desperately trying to rationalize and excuse Mychel Bell from his ghettorific behavior. Hell even your liberal buddy Anderson Cooper was talking shit about him.Is your boyfriend black? At least it would explain your blind defense of everything against the evil white man.
12/30/2008 11:28:09 PM
Understanding influences is just as important. Looks like he's not getting the best of example set for him by his parents, at least.
12/30/2008 11:57:20 PM
Not many things less significant than the Jena 6.
12/31/2008 12:02:22 AM
^^^You gotta understand that I come at this subject from a different place than you. I grew up with most of the advantages and made all the mistakes (short of actually killing someone). So I'm very sympathetic to other kids who fuck up, especially those who don't get most of the advantages like I did.I mean, I'm not even coming at this with racial rhetoric. I haven't busted out shit about the struggles of young black males and the failure of society and public education and the community and his parents and how stifling life in the ghetto can be and the media's influence and blah, blah, blah...I'm saying he's a kid who just shot himself in the stomach because he was that upset about getting caught shoplifting and probably lots of other stuff that's not going right. That doesn't seem like a "little thug" to me. I'm not ready to lock him up.I'm biased as fuck for sure. If this kid got on TV and talked shit about fat people or if he played sports for Chapel Hill or if he was a hardcore conservative or if he disliked pug puppies, I would be so ready to talk shit. But he's just a kid, and I kinda feel sorry for him. Y'all gonna hate, I know, but whatever...[Edited on December 31, 2008 at 12:21 AM. Reason : sss]

The police are saying now that it was an attempted suicide.
12/31/2008 12:24:51 AM
i have to agree with HURseems so many people were quick to want his attempted murder charge overturned - because a noose was involved, as if that was justification for the beating - it was disturbing that so many people wanted them to be set freeand look at what happens now
12/31/2008 12:24:54 AM

THIS DUMB FUCK PROVES THAT HE DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE SET FREE IS WHAT HAPPENS NOW
12/31/2008 7:55:11 AM
if he shot himself in the shoulder in an attempted suicide he probably didnt really want to die. Statistically, men who want to die shoot themselves in the head. Women shoot themselves in the heart. he was just looking for attention, perhaps
12/31/2008 11:03:38 AM
^agreedeither that or he's just to goddamned stupid even to put the gun barrel in his mouth and pull the trigger....even though it was a .22 cal......poor boy should have learned from his first mistake, and made better from that. you feel bad for him after the first offense, thats cool with me. after the second, fucker knows better. period.

I don't follow all of her posts, but from what i have seen, bridget would never hold someone personally accountable for any of their actions. It really starts to grate on my nerves every time i read one of her posts, but it seems to always be the case.

^^,^^^I think my view leaves plenty of room for personal responsibility. You guys act like people do things for no reason, like there's no explanation for our behavior...they just do things cause they're bad and that's it. It's possible for someone to accept responsibility for their actions while simultaneously maintaining that there were circumstances outside of their control, that they're not just bad.I'm not sure exactly how much emphasis I would place on those circumstances that are outside our control, but I can say for sure that I cut lots of slack for young people (folks younger than 25 or 26). I definitely support alternatives to prison for people who commit crimes before that age.And I think people that are truly "bad apples" are so rare and so awful that I'd just assume not waste my time thinking about them.
12/31/2008 4:42:08 PM
anyone who attempts suicide is in a lot of pain.

^ A lot of people DO need someone to constantly remind them what's right and what's wrong, that's why religion is so popular. You're making the very common mistake of thinking everyone else's brain works like yours and has your same worldview, when that's not true.Bell is obviously going to have to face the consequences of his actions now though. The fact that he beat someone's ass that was insulting him is not really related, from anything i've seen, to him being a thief. Especially if the other kids are doing better than him.

Just like the black kid who robbed my house last year. Went to juvie for a month. I even got a hand written apology letter. Yet, just recently he was caught stealing jewerly from another neighbor. I blame it all on his parents. They act as if they can't do anything to him and brush it off as "he's just being a teen". When he grows up I predict the same for his children. Perpetual circle of thug life.
1/8/2009 9:55:27 AM
I don't give a fuck about this kid, or any of the other "Jena 6".I just hate the protests and stupid media coverage that accompanies every case like this. Turns out there was more to the story than just racism. Stop rushing to judgement and trying to stir up shit, you oversensitive bastards.
1/8/2009 12:18:32 PM
amen
1/8/2009 1:12:38 PM
I feel bad for this kid...now. A lot of kids steal and get caught. It's not that big of a deal at his age. And whether or not he actually intended to die, he must have been in a pretty dark place to shoot himself at all, regardless of the wimpy caliber. However, I do feel that the initial protesting of the attempted murder charges were not based upon sincere outrage at the seriousness of the charges but rather at the fact that Bell and company acted out because they felt racially intimidated. Certainly, the asshole prosecutor didn't help either. But to me, all the protesters did was signal to everyone else that they believe that violence is the answer to racial intimidation. It didn't seem to me that they were pressing for assault charges, they were pressing for no charges. That's what I disliked about the whole crying out over the charges. And again, I probably don't know enough about the entire situation to be credible. But stealing is what teens do for fun. Sure it's wrong, but I believe that for every one bad apple, there are thousands who just made a mistake.[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 2:52 PM. Reason : .]

stealing for fun? when I was a kid that would be like "stealing for an ass-whippin." not my idea of fun.
1/8/2009 2:54:44 PM
I know tons of people who used to be like this.Working as a prosecutor in the past, I have seen it a lot. It's not the evil sin that most of you are making it out to be.
1/8/2009 3:04:10 PM
anyone else think the term "thug" is tossed around too loosely? like this example:
1/10/2009 3:35:02 AM
"we're not against rap.. we're not against rappers.. but we are against those thugs, thugs, thugs..."Don't really care what color he is, that (those?) white kid(s) deserved to get their ass beat, but not that bad, and now you go steal stuff. I have friends that used to get in fights and steal stuff, and now that they're in their mid 20s they still do it, so yeah I can see him continuing to grow into a piece of shit just like people I know. And suicide is illegal too, so that's like 3 more charges since the Jena incident.. Lock him up for a while
