^^I've got 4 gb installed in Vista32. It recognizes 4gb, but for ram usage it only recognizes 3.5 gb. My video card is using the other 0.5gb

go vista 64-bitit will run swimmingly

my 32bit vista install is only showing 3 of the 4 gb. i thought about installing 64bit tonight, but according to the link, it doesn't matter.

im just trying to figure out why mine shows all 4 (under system properties)
12/24/2008 11:02:56 AM
because the OS see the ram but can't utilize it.mine does the same thing.[Edited on December 24, 2008 at 4:39 PM. Reason : i am going to install 64 bit tonight.]

^^ Ever since SP1 the system properties will recognize all 4 GB's (I also have 4 GB and before SP1 it showed 3.5).If you install a 3rd party widget/gadget that shows the ram usage it will only show the 3.5 GB and can only use the 3.5 GB.I noticed this too...sees it and shows it in system properties but still can't use it (because as you know it's a limitation on hardware).

eh i've got 8, 64 bit.

I'm not doing anything that requires more power than a Celeron, in fact, I was trying to find a single core system (for power purposes). This isn't my primary computer, I am using it mostly for Outlook and iTunes hosting (main purpose).Good to hear the feedback on the Vista 64-Bit, I'm going to try it without a PCI-e graphics card and see how the GeForce 7100 holds up.

i hate that i made the mistake of not getting 64bit vista on my machine when i ordered it. it sucks when the system can't utilize the 4bg of ram in it.now i gotta format, reinstall. boooooooo
