Lately it seems that I get nauseated a lot more towards the end of my work out. Does this happen to any of you guys. I don't think its normal and I only remember it happening only after the more extreme workouts when i was younger.

Could also be that you're not drinking enough water before and during your workout (see dehydration). How long of a routine are we talking about here?

This has happened to me when hitting the weights hard, especially if I've had a layoff.

This has happened to me when I don't eat enough that day.You have to have something to burn off, otherwise you're gonna hurl. And hurling on an empty stomach is the worst.

This used to happen to me when I didn't eat enough before working out. Now I always have a protein shake before and after working out, and never seem to have any trouble

i have it and can agree with the not eating enough.

try taking more breaks during your workout and be sure to hydrate yourself well during the breaks. This typically happens to most people when they try to rush a workout.

Sometimes you want to "rush" the workout...(i.e., workout at greater intensity). There is a time and a place to rest a lot between sets, but the point of it isn't to stave off nausea.

is it like bile? are u actually vomiting?if you are vomiting bile you need to eat, otherwise who knows maybe your body is off balance if youve changed your diet or something of that nature[Edited on December 23, 2008 at 9:33 AM. Reason : f]

This has happened to me from time to time, but I figured it was just normal and occasionally happens.

^Agree, and also agree it is more likely if it's been a long time since eating. Has also happened to me when on antibiotics/medicine that alters my metabolism.

yeah one time I worked out and I hadn't eaten anything all day except for some garbage like a few cookies and about threw up, no surprise therebut having a protein shake or something to burn beforehand, and having gatorade or a beneficial drink like that during can do wonders to stave it off

If I haven't had anything to eat in awhile and I'm at the Rec center (or on campus in general) I'll use a meal plan to buy a power bar and a vitamin water. That does the trick for giving me stuff to burn, never had this problem.

I passed out after a workout in the State gym once. One minute I'm taking my shirt off in the locker room, the next I remember floating in a vast, dark ocean for a long time. Then these two Chinese dudes were shaking me and shouting at me. I gave them the OK sign and realized my head was bleeding. It's happened since after really strenuous activity, but now I know to take a knee and not bend over and it will pass.[Edited on December 23, 2008 at 5:01 PM. Reason : Oh, yeah, I used to put off eating until after workouts, that was a mistake too.][Edited on December 23, 2008 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]

this thread is confusing. Eating anything within 2 hours of a workout guarantees that I will get nauseous during my workout, especially on leg day.

you might be preggers

You're getting nauseated because during a workout, the lactic acid levels in your blood begin to rise as a normal stress response. If that stress is maintained, you become acidotic (too much acid and your venous pH begins to drop). So, to counteract that, your body tries to dispose of acid (by vomiting!!).

Take some pre-workout stuff. You have to experiment though to find what works best for you. I use redbull sometimes for the extra energy and usually I don't get nausea when I finish. You could try somehing from GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. I know some guys that take animal pump (creatine and caffeine matrix) and superpump 250. Usually they leave the gym feeling great with no nausea. I know the feeling though and it sucks.
