If anybody can find out the name and newspaper of the idiot reporter who continuously badgered the Detroit Coach after the game today about his son n law, going as far as to ask the coach if his daughter could have married a better man. I will personally start a petition to have the idiot fired. Not only is the unprofessional that was probably one of the most bullshit post game questions fired EVER. I don't even like the lions but the dude crossed the line. Kept badgering about the son n law over and over again. Was on fox postgame, they all think he should be fired as well. Hope he apologizes. find me the info!

I agree that was beyond low....Marinelli handed it well though. He's a good guy I think.[Edited on December 21, 2008 at 7:58 PM. Reason : Nice guys do finish last]

Rob Parker from the Detroit Newsi'm sure it'll be all over ESPN shortly with the rawr rawr outrage rawrhttp://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=OPINION0307[Edited on December 21, 2008 at 7:59 PM. Reason : +]

correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe he's on First Take from time to time
12/21/2008 8:07:27 PM
You would think he would have better things to ask him about. 0-15 is piss-poor on a legendary status.
12/21/2008 8:08:04 PM
Marinelli's son-in-law is his D Coord
12/21/2008 8:14:45 PM
i missed it...what went down? what about the son in law?
12/21/2008 8:15:29 PM
He should be fired but he wont be. He'll claim racism if he's fired
12/21/2008 8:17:26 PM
I hope I'm not asking an obvious question (I didn't see the postgame), but you do realize his son-in-law is the defensive coordinator, right? Like I said, I didn't see it, so I can't judge how unprofessional it was, but he was asking the question (albeit a bit untactfully based on what LetsTAILGATE said) that all Detroit fans have been asking. As god awful as their defense has been, I don't think it's out of bounds to question how the relationship between the coach and defensive coordinator affects that.

That guy is a fucking idiot anyways. He rarely says anything close to intelligent whenever he's on ESPN.
12/21/2008 8:28:44 PM
fired yet? I hope so. Classless, I don't care what ya say if you listened to the postgame he kept going ON and ON and marinelli just handled each question with class. then the idiot was like so could your daughter have married a better man and he just looked away. I'm pissed and I have nothing to do with the lions.
12/21/2008 9:51:44 PM
eh, did he throw a shoe at the coach?
12/21/2008 10:07:49 PM
Honestly, who throws a shoe?

He doesn't ask if his daughter should've married a better guy.He asks if his daughter should've married a better defensive coordinator.
12/22/2008 11:29:27 AM
they were saying this morning that Rob Parker is a friend of Rod Marinelli and has been joking about his son-in-law being on the coaching staff at every press conference this season.
12/22/2008 11:35:46 AM
After hearing about this, I read a few of Parker's columns wherein he roasted the DC. Coupling those with Marinelli's expression after Parker asked that question, it's hard to believe the guy was joking.

The guy is just a complete idiot and a horrible journalist. If you've ever seen him on ESPN, you would know that. He makes Skip Bayless look like he knows what he's talking about. He's a hack. Had another incident earlier this year where he made some shit up about a MSU football player getting in a fight...or at least went to press before validating his facts.

I can't believe this makes front page news. If you pay me seven figures, you can ask me anything you like, you can rent a prop plane and write how terrible I am in the sky every day of the football season. Being 0-15 far outweighs anything some half wit reporter asks, and no, it wouldn't be piling on, it would be handled just as the Detroit coach did, a simple "no" and move on, nothing to see here.
12/22/2008 2:41:33 PM
^So we still can't talk about how horrible the reporter is and the fact that he's a douchebag?
12/22/2008 3:25:13 PM
wait a minute, just wait a minuteRob Parker is being critical about somethingand it has nothing to do with race?!
12/22/2008 7:18:47 PM
12/23/2008 12:10:04 AM
So was he joking or not?
12/23/2008 1:08:14 AM
Parker insists it was a joke. Maybe its me, but if I make a joke once and it doesn't make anyone laugh, I don't make it 2 more times within 10 minutes.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081222/OPINION03/812220369/1343/OPINION0307Read this article = end of thread.
12/23/2008 9:28:25 AM
^Sounds kind of like a guy trying to cover his ass. But maybe not. Whatever...still a dumb question...doesn't get him off the hook just because he asks the same thing every weekend.
12/23/2008 10:48:49 AM
mutual respect? hardly. Marinelli does not respect Parker and the articles and questions he asked all year, it would sound like Parker thinks Barry has his job out of nepotism and doesn't respect Marinelli. Parker got national attention and got called a bitch by Bradshaw. He is just trying to not lose his job.
12/23/2008 1:27:36 PM
i don't see the question he asked as reason for him to lose his job.this thread should be about whether Marinella should still have his job.... he is the one that isn't doing his right.....
12/23/2008 1:56:53 PM
^ exactly. People overreact. The guy is a douche but isn't that what makes a reporter a good reporter. The reason he asked the same question three times is because he was trying to pin Marinelli down. Marinelli just avoided the question every time. This just comes with the territory of being an NFL coach with a winless season.
12/23/2008 8:30:05 PM
^ Marinelli did what any good, respectable head coach does. He took responsibility for his team's results. What did you expect, him to throw the DC under the bus? Then the ass reporter would just say he's shifting blame.
