"The midget Bush and that Rumsfield deserve only to be beaten with shoes by freedom loving people everywhere."--Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, Iraqi Information Minister, 2003

that's one way to get the Secret Service to throw your ass in jail.....
12/14/2008 11:22:48 PM
I loved Bush's expression after the first shoe was thrown. He had a little smile, like "Seriously dude? A shoe? Your ass is mine now."

I wish Bush had thrown his shoes right back at him.

I wonder what would've happened to this "reporter" if he had thrown a shoe at Saddam Hussein? How many minutes would have passed before his testicles were in a clamp?Proof that freedom rings.

To be fair, I think the Iraqis are the only ones to beat him so far. He's in US custody now, so the real mind-fucking torture in an undisclosed location can begin.
12/16/2008 11:21:40 AM
Letting the guy walk would have been truly badass."I can dance all day, son. Come back anytime you want."
12/16/2008 11:39:31 AM
^I think the Iraqi security would have kept tackling him even if Bush had told them it was cool. Probably the secret service would have kept going, too.

a friend of mine suggested that Bush should request that the Iraqi gov't give the shoe-thrower clemency, to ensure he is not harshly punished for this. I think that would be a pretty good showing of good will from the US to Iraq. It's a small gesture, of course, but could be symbolic.
12/17/2008 2:46:09 PM
PARDON THE SHOE THROWER!
12/17/2008 3:32:35 PM
he's in jail, and there are protests and bombings about him nowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDEgMFqPFFE
12/18/2008 1:05:52 PM
But really though... he's a great candidate for a pardon. I doubt he was trying/expecting to hurt Bush, just exercising freedom of speech with a rather aggressive arab custom. Hell, Bush himself compared the guy to shouting protesters on the streets, just trying to make a point and get attention for their cause.
12/18/2008 1:11:24 PM
if that happened against obama, it would be a race crime
12/18/2008 1:26:13 PM
12/18/2008 1:33:56 PM
well, he (Bush) could just publically make the suggestion. If the Iraqi gov't chooses to heed the suggestion or not would be up to them, and the amount of back-room wrangling involved in the decision I guess would be up for argument
12/18/2008 2:56:35 PM
i heard the bush admin already asked for the powers that be to return the tapes and whatnot that they siezed from the journalist to his ?newspaper/station?
12/18/2008 2:59:08 PM
He was supposed to appear in front of a judge yesterday, but instead that was postponed until next week or later. In other words:DUDE GOT BEAT THE FUCK UP.
