sucks so fari hate the auto-tune on every trackthere are a few decent onesbut he shouldnt be pissed about this not winning anything, because I doubt it does.
12/11/2008 3:28:16 PM
i thoroughly enjoy it
12/11/2008 3:31:26 PM
i think it's pretty good, although Kanye should not be surprised that he alienated some fansit's a completely different genre
12/11/2008 3:32:59 PM
didn't like it at first, but there are some really good tracks on it. the autotune thing doesn't really bother me.. it fits the music
12/11/2008 3:45:52 PM
discussed ad nauseam in the hip-hop thread
12/11/2008 3:48:44 PM
12/11/2008 3:55:27 PM
Glad I got this for free.Easily one of the worst hip-hop (if you want to call it that) albums of all time.Fucking abomination.
12/11/2008 4:42:41 PM
Ok to listen toGreat to fuck toFantastic to sing along to
12/11/2008 5:15:58 PM
i d/led it to rip him off.But that fucker had the last laugh cuz this album has negative value.
12/11/2008 5:18:11 PM
12/11/2008 5:19:01 PM
this cd really isn't that bad."say you will" "welcome to heartbreak" "heartless" "amazing" and "bad news" are all good songs. which is about as many as you'll find on most commercial albums anymore.
12/11/2008 5:26:34 PM
i think there's "street lights" and then there's everything else.. no, it's not a hip-hop song but that shit is good
12/11/2008 6:06:41 PM
love lockdown, amazin, heartless, street lights, paranoid, coldest winterall winners
12/11/2008 6:15:51 PM
haven't heard itwon't
12/12/2008 12:23:14 AM
See you in my nightmares (ft lil wayne) is by far the best track. Followed by Love Lockdown, Heartless, Welcome to Heartbreak, Amazing. I enjoy the auto tune in small doses...every song though? Come on now, that's never been Kayne's style.
12/12/2008 11:51:28 AM
i think see you in my nightmares is the worst tracki like the album a lot^ and i don't think he really cares about boundaries or fitting into neat categories. have you seen kanye west? have you met his ego?[Edited on December 12, 2008 at 12:29 PM. Reason : .]
12/12/2008 12:28:53 PM
Not sure how anyone enjoys Street Lights...I cringe when I hear the song, absolutely terrible...
12/12/2008 12:58:31 PM
that song is amazing. but different strokes for different folks
12/12/2008 3:09:24 PM
At least See you in my nightmares has a phat opening beat and some actual "rap" during the song...
12/12/2008 3:29:22 PM
"Auto-tuning" has been around for a while (see britney spears, christian aguilera, etc), but it hasn't been embraced until recently. I can't tell if Kanye was doing it as a joke, or if he thinks there is actual musical quality to it. In any case, it's a disgrace to our society and music that so many artists are relying on this now. It's a cheap gimmick to hide laziness and lack of talent.[Edited on December 12, 2008 at 4:30 PM. 12/12/2008 4:29:26 PM
i don't think people like mjrobson have noticed, but this isn't a rap album.. so i don't really think it should be judged based on how few "raps" there are
12/12/2008 4:36:43 PM
12/12/2008 4:37:01 PM
i love robocop
12/12/2008 4:43:32 PM
12/12/2008 5:31:32 PM
finally listened to the whole album the other day. relative to the quality of his other albums, this might be the worst album i've ever heard. EVER. can't believe anyone likes this garbage.
12/12/2008 5:48:46 PM
I love College Dropout because it was pretty fresh and innovative as far as hip-hop goes. It paved the way for some new really sick acts. But then Late Registration and Graduation was more of the same shit. The shtick got boring. With this album, he has certainly alienated some fans, and he's probably not going to retain some folks who loved Late Registration, but he's pretty much reinvented the wheel again. For the first time since College Dropout, Kanye has given us something new. So in my opinion, he's actually relevant again.Like I said, it won't jive with every body.
12/12/2008 8:42:20 PM
robocop is my jam
12/13/2008 1:05:41 AM
I like it so far, very daring, I could see people that just like hip hop hating it as its definitely different, almost a pop album, the music reminds me a lot of Giorgio Moroder's stuff from the early 80s, and Coldest Winter could be a Shiny Toy Guns song[Edited on December 13, 2008 at 1:27 AM. I normally can't get into anything that wasn't recorded before 1990, but the two songs he did on SNL last night were actually pretty good, especially the second one. He's still a jackass, though.
12/14/2008 10:25:42 AM
I saw his first song on SNL, and that convinced me that I don't want to hear anything else from that album
12/14/2008 10:46:29 AM
^it's always going to sound shitty when you use effects like auto-tune, then try to perform them live.
12/14/2008 1:17:30 PM
ignoring the shitty effects, I thought the whole song sucked anyway
12/14/2008 1:34:49 PM
I just think people's perception of what a "Kanye album" should sound like is making them hate this album... if you slapped another band's name on it people would like it
12/14/2008 1:40:38 PM
12/14/2008 1:47:02 PM
^^I just hate auto-tune.
12/14/2008 1:49:42 PM
^^ you know you loved that Cher song
12/14/2008 1:57:01 PM
12/14/2008 2:48:08 PM
I understand what he is trying to do, but it's complete fail IMO.
12/14/2008 2:57:18 PM
the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it.
12/14/2008 3:07:07 PM
this is just one of those cases of a good artist putting something completely shitty out and people trying their hardest to see it in a good light. this thing is a
12/14/2008 5:29:48 PM
I'm actually the opposite of that. After hearing "Love Lockdown" a few months ago, I thought this cd would be the biggest piece of shit ever. Then when the first cut of Robocop was out, I was convinced. But given Kanye's track record of putting out solid albums (and producing a lot of great tracks), I gave the whole album a listen. It's really an enjoyable album, but I think people are more inclined to just give it one listen and say it sucks as opposed to letting it grow on them, and I can certainly understand that. Its easy to hate on Kanye... hell, I can't stand him as a person, but again, the man makes quality music. For me, I liked a couple tracks at first, but I would just let the whole damn thing play and it's grown on me.I enjoy the fact that the worst song features Lil Wayne, who's doing his damnedest to become a worse rapper than Bizzare.
12/14/2008 5:37:36 PM
I really dont like this CD. Its pretty much Kanye's version on the robot voice -- too bad it began like two years ago, and it has become so played out. Which is really disappointing since kanye's whole appeal is that he does things differently...so it was lame for him to do the industry standard two years late. Blah
12/14/2008 10:03:36 PM
12/14/2008 10:31:11 PM
^^ see i disagreei think he IS doing it differently
12/14/2008 11:43:49 PM
t pain did it firstactually i take that back.Snoop went autotune R&B first. T-pain did more pop but Snoop took that leap with the autotune R&B with Sexual Eruption. That sucked too.....

Zapp (Roger Troutman) did this first. See "More Bounce To The Ounce" or "Computer Love".Anyway, I listened to it. It had a couple high points but I don't like it. With or without the auto-tuning. With or without Kanye's name on the cover. Just didn't do it for me.[Edited on December 15, 2008 at 3:02 AM. Reason : poop]

i hate auto tune and i hated this album at first but the more i listened the more it grew on me. i you have to be in the "mood" for the ablbum but once you're there it's an enjoyable experience.
12/15/2008 3:28:54 AM
Interesting to see how both Kanye and Common changed up their albums this year. I think Universal Mind Control is much better but I've always been a huge Common fan.
