the rest sucked, or at least don't come even close.

Bryan Singer- Usual Suspects was incredible. X-Men and X2 were alright when i first saw them, but after watching them more times i dislike them more and more.

Paul W.S. Anderson- and a lot of people debate this, but i think Event Horizon is one of the better horror movies i've ever seen, and then Resident Evil, AVP sucked. I actually like Soldier and find it entertaining, but i know it is a terrible movie.

Luc Besson- this one doesn't exactly fit, but i'm putting him in anyways. Léon is one of my favorite movies ever, 5th Element is pretty damn good, but nowhere near as good as Léon, then the rest that he directed/wrote/produced don't even come close. There are a couple that i find quite entertaining, but they still don't come close to the overall greatness of Léon

John Duigan hasn't made a good movie since Flirting (which I think is way better than The Year My Voice Broke), so I'll count him

George Armitage only has one good film: Grosse Point Blank

I watched the Usual Suspects movie again recently. It's not as great as I remember. Its "badass," but that's about it.

Luc Besson did all three Transporter movies correct?

That's far from sucking.

Luc Besson only produced the Transporter movies...but he did direct La Femme Nikita as well, so that puts 3 in the win column for him.

Tony Kaye (American History X)
Another vote for M.Night Shyamalan...Unbreakable and Signs were decent, but the other three were so God awful he belongs on this list.

Besson did The Messenger, which I still find to be a better than average movie.

i thought sixth sense was decent back when it came out. not awesome or anything but yea. everything else he has done has been bad imo. I think unbreakable is one of the worst along with lady in the water, yet some people say thats one of the few they can stand so I dono haha.

wes anderson, ignoring that bottlerocket was his actual first film. rushmore was awesome and then he made a bunch of movies that were kindof like rushmore except not funny.

people will disagree... but they're wrong.

Richard Kelly

Donnie Darko was great.
Southland Tales was the worst movie I've ever seen.
S. Darko (Donnie Darko 2) will be terrible.

Haven't seen Domino, so no opinion there.

Also, I want to say George Lucas, but he had about 3-4 good movies before he went insane.

^, OH SHIT, I just saw Southland Tales the other night
Jesus christ what a pile of shit. a 3 hour movie that is jumbled, confused, absurd, and stars The Rock and Sean William Scott. OH, AND to get to their big crazy twist plot device at the end, they had to employ TIME TRAVEL.

weak.

though the fact that the seer lady from Poltergeist was fun.

That's a dumb way to evaluate the quality of a movie.

Some of the best movies ever made aren't necessarily watchable "every time it comes on." I can only watch the Godfather about once every couple months. But I'll sit and watch the 5th element once every couple weeks if it comes on. Because it's just an "entertaining" movie...not really a great one.

it's not dumb at all. i am evaluating them based on how much i enjoy them. what's criminal about that?

Richard Kelly has nothing to do with the sequel to Donnie Darko except that the movie is using his characters. But Southland Tales should win every razzie ever. The girlfriend and I had to go see it at Colony earlier this year because of the all the bad reviews and it lived up to them.

I would include Sam Mendes but Revolutionary Road is getting crazy good reviews so I'll back off that.

Michael Bay

The Rock was a damn good movie. The rest of his movies ranged from entertaining (Transformers) to just plain shit (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor).

Nothing to do with S. Darko (as stated above). Southland Tales....I dunno, I got so pissed off watching it b/c nothing made any fucking sense to me and it just kept going on and on and on. However, looking back on it now it looks a lot better. In fact I want to watch it again (and for fun make a friend or two watch it for the first time and get all pissed off)
