wait, wut?so there will be four late night shows on NBC?
12/8/2008 9:07:56 PM
All late night, all the time.
12/8/2008 9:08:21 PM
what? I thought the whole reason was because Leno wanted to retire.....but now he's just moving to 10? That's fucked up
12/8/2008 9:25:09 PM
this is bad news for jimmy kimmelhe was going to get a huge bump in ratings and salary when leno came to abc...
12/8/2008 10:04:52 PM
12/8/2008 11:15:28 PM
all i need is conan
12/8/2008 11:16:12 PM
Soooo, it's really just a location change for Conan? It won't seem like a promotion if Leno is still ahead of him in the schedule. LAME. I really hate that Conan will be leaving NYC.
12/9/2008 7:56:43 AM
so this is M-F, right?what happens to the shows that normally air at 10? oh, well after looking at the lineup they could stand to lose some of those shows. ER will be off air anyway, my own worst enemy sucks, and every other night they show law & order. i don't think it's a good move. they need to come up with really good original programming instead of recycling what they already have.[Edited on December 9, 2008 at 8:31 AM. so what we now have the "It's Getting Late Show with Jay Leno", the "Late Show with Conan Obrien", and then late late and very late?wtf
12/9/2008 8:44:15 AM
Get Carson off the air.Other then that whatever else they do don't care what they do with any of the other shows.
12/9/2008 12:12:58 PM
this doesn't affect me since i don't have tv, but i never liked leno. back when it was leno and letterman vying for ratings, i never understood how anyone even laughed at leno. i've heard his show as a whole could be better sometimes, but the dude never made me laugh.
12/9/2008 12:44:11 PM
i still don't get this......Did Leno want to give up his 11:30 show? Surely if he wanted to stay on, they would have re-signed him. I thought that would be the only reason he would give up the Tonight Show was if he had had enough.
12/9/2008 12:53:16 PM
By contract he had to. I remember reading that he kinda flip-flopped on the whole thing about a year or so ago when it became time for him to think about his retirement.
12/9/2008 1:07:59 PM
yeah, you'll have to find the old late night show thread and read up on it to get the whole story.apparently leno flip flopped about how much longer he wanted to continue hosting. Well NBC finally made their decision that promised Conan would take over the Late show after x number of years. Well once that decision was made Leno began saying he wasn't done, had no intentions of retiring, and would go elsewhere if he had to. He consistently has better ratings than Letterman, so NBC about shit their pants and are now trying to do what they can to make room for him while still keeping their promise to Conan.
12/9/2008 1:51:56 PM
will the show have to be more family friendly in that time spot?
12/9/2008 2:09:43 PM
late night tv sucksI'm Big Business and i approved this message.
12/9/2008 2:12:27 PM
^^i'd have to think so, although out of all of the late night shows Leno's is easily the most family friendly (tame). I just hope it doesn't become some jay leno variety hour, but i could see that too. but watching jay, then waiting 30 minutes for the news to end, and turning back for new conan probably isn't gonna happen.
12/9/2008 3:34:06 PM
SucksI wonder if this means Conan gets to stay in NY though?
12/9/2008 3:41:54 PM
nah, the move to LA is already a done deal, which IMO is the worst part of the transitioni just read that conan bought a 10.1 million dollar LA mansion
12/9/2008 4:00:35 PM
So is Jimmy Fallon still taking Conan's spot?
12/9/2008 4:13:53 PM
yes
12/9/2008 4:19:52 PM
Cool, maybe I can catch some of his show now.
12/9/2008 4:23:57 PM
NBC is really screwing Conan over on all of this.
12/9/2008 5:26:54 PM
i could easily see conan taking over for letterman when he decides to step down
