Is there any product that replicates new car smell convincingly? The usual air fresheners that call themselves "new car smell" don't smell anything close to a new car; they're all sickeningly sweet and fruity.

new car smell sucksand varies
12/5/2008 1:43:32 PM
Hmm, maybe I'm thinking about new cars with leather seats. They smell a lot better than new cars with cloth seats.

You know that it is bad for your health, right? What do you think it is? It is basically fumes from all the plastic and leather and sealants/glues.A study showed it could cause brain and/or lung damage, which makes sense.[Edited on December 5, 2008 at 4:52 PM. Reason : ]

studies show that everything causes cancer though

^^ correct, actuallyand youll notice that the new car smell of today isnt the same as it was when you were a kid
12/5/2008 5:40:04 PM
^^^, ^^the best smell is the absence of smells

Just buy new leather seats and put them in your car.[Edited on December 7, 2008 at 7:24 PM. Reason : win.]

cloth seats >>>> leather seats imo
12/7/2008 8:37:16 PM
^ sure but not as nice IMO.
12/8/2008 2:27:15 AM
^^ agreeleather is way overated. Cloth actually is more comfortable and imo more sporty
12/8/2008 9:48:12 AM
Cloth is more comfortable, doesn't overheat or overcool in adverse weather, and best of all, provides tons more grip than leather.Leather looks nicer. And Alcantara/suede is the best of both worlds.[Edited on December 8, 2008 at 11:06 AM. Reason : ]

I too, prefer cloth to leather. For some inexplicable reason the cloth seats in my GS-R look brand new. I cannot find ANY wear and tear on the two front seats at all, despite 276,000 miles of use. Its ridiculous.I wonder how long it'll take for the S2k's leather seats to show some wear
12/10/2008 11:29:15 AM
i've never owned an f150 in my life you stupid fuck. why don't you go back to fapping of pictures of cars on worldcarfans are something. do you even own a car? not even a tan camry or something? that's what i thought.
12/10/2008 11:29:32 AM
why would someone who's name has RAM in it buy a Ford?
12/10/2008 11:36:14 AM
well, in all fairness i do have an f350, but that's a whole different animal from and f150. not that i would expect that dumbass to know any better.

What you want to do is get a canister of the chemical they use to harden molded plastic after its done being formed, that's mostly what you smell in a new car.http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com/evercoat-liquid-hardener-use-with-polyester-resins-p-5672.html?ref=42Oh and if you want the leather smell just get some cheap brand of origonal flavor beef jerky and open it up in there.[Edited on December 10, 2008 at 12:30 PM. Reason : to add more helpfull hints]
12/10/2008 12:28:29 PM
most interior car parts are injection molded and do not use what you posted. they're usually ABS+PC or polypropylene, not polyester.i couldn't tell you where the hell the smell comes from though--I know the mold shops I've been in usually smell like burnt plastic..nothing like a new car lol[Edited on December 10, 2008 at 12:53 PM. Reason : they harden just from cooling--not an additional chemical]
12/10/2008 12:49:03 PM
i think the smell comes mostly from carpet and seating surfaces.just put some bleach+ammonia in that bitch. smells excellent.^^wtf? there is no damn beef jerky i've ever had that smells like leather. i'm a connoisseur of all processed meats too, as is tripleslimjim4u[Edited on December 10, 2008 at 1:02 PM.
