My parents have four cats, two of which are brothers (from the same litter). One of these is a runt. This runt has been 'picked on' by the other cats and gotten pretty anxious. He used to piss all over the house until mom put him on medication and now he hides out in the nooks and crannies of a storage room all day, coming out at night to sleep on/with people.

All of these cats are full grown and a couple years old.

So, my sister will be moving out and getting an apartment for next semester. Since the cat and his brother are technically hers, she wants to take the runt with her. We think/hope that he will be happier to live by himself and not piss everywhere. We are wondering how the other sibling will be affected, and if they could be brought back together. Thoughts?

(Mom's question, lol. I think they won't tell the difference).

The only way to see if the cat will be happier by itself will be to separate it from the other cats and give it some space- I would keep the cat in a 'safe' area like a hardwood floor room or bathroom and be prepared in case it decides to pee out of anxiety.

A lot of times, animals at the bottom of pecking orders do better on their own when not competing for attention, or resources, like food.
