just because there has been discussion and you folks cant figure it out without people like me first because its easily googled:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_eligiblethen, JUST IN CASE State happens to win, no jinx, here is what would happen or we'd need to happen for our chances at a bowl:

1. i love how someone doesnt understand a question and then assumes that everyone else needs to be educated, when in fact everyone else understand the basic rules of bowl eligbility2. i like how someone claims credit his ability to explain something when he is in fact only quoting someone else's explanation (or at least i assume this is the case since he didnt claim credit for the post in the other thread)
11/23/2008 8:16:26 PM
1) just cleanring it up so we dont have to answer the same question millions of times like the scholarship question in bball2) in fact, it was not my post but because i can find that info i feel the need to be considered as educated and well versed on the subject.
11/23/2008 8:20:11 PM
I agree. This was a douche move.
11/23/2008 8:20:19 PM
JT3 is always that guy who thinks/acts like he's smarter than everyone else when he's really not even as smart as the average personThis isn't a one time deal...its a recurring pattern

prove it^

if clemson is 7-5 they are above usthey get chosen because they are a 7 win team and HAVE to by rule get chosen firstif they lose, we are tied and the bowls would then have to choose which team they would wanna pickyou count ONE FCS team victory no matter WHAT towards bowl eligibility.i think its fairly clear[Edited on November 23, 2008 at 8:28 PM. right because they have two FCS teamsits clear to me, completely clear to mei just think we are seeing it from two different sides but yet we see the same thing.we both know the destination but are taking two different roads.

guessing that's the new bowl in DC
11/23/2008 9:43:23 PM
that would be an exciting bowl for TOB
11/23/2008 11:19:23 PM
yeah, whatever. any bowl right now is cool i guess. whatever gets players excited for next year.
11/23/2008 11:21:56 PM
Clemson actually needs to win next week, because one of their wins doesn't count towards bowl eligibility. You can only use one FCS win.
11/23/2008 11:25:10 PM
Awesome if we got the charlotte bowl vrs West by god Virginia. Here's to that!
11/24/2008 1:43:21 AM
So if Clemson wins, they are in the same boat as us, correct? They would only have 6 wins that count. So really, all we need is for Vandy to beat Wake, everything else is up to us.
11/24/2008 3:21:23 AM
There's no way Charlotte passes on us. We're the best FBS team in the state going by the fact that we swept through all the others. Not to mention the largest fan base in the Meck area (for football anyway, they are mostly UNC bball whores but those fans never care about football)

11/24/2008 4:35:23 PM
Of the bowls we have a shot atI'd prefer DC, then Charlotte, then NashvilleBoise or San francisco would kinda sucktho NYM would probably jerk off to some Emerald Nuts
11/24/2008 4:37:17 PM
id love to go back to DC for a few daysnashville is a hellofa good time city too
11/24/2008 4:41:00 PM
here's to beating miami so this thread is relevant.
11/24/2008 4:59:36 PM
JT3: don't listen to the flamers. I appreciate your op. I watch a good bit a of football, but have never paid attention to the details of the convoluted bowl eligibility rules.

I don't think anyone would disagree that our football fanbase is more passionate and travels better than UNC's, but when they were in the Meineke bowl a few years ago they did travel well...of course there are already a lot of UNC fans in Charlotte so it wasn't much travel, but they actually came out and showed up for their bowl game despite having a worse season than this yearHowever maybe a few years ago they were just happy to be at a bowl game period so they showed up since it was local...maybe they won't be as excited this year since they seem to be finishing the season on a down note, but they will have more wins than us, so if Meineke wanted them, they could get them over State
11/24/2008 7:59:30 PM
Why the hell would anybody want to go to a bowl game in DC?
11/24/2008 7:59:42 PM
^^^ haven't you heard - just listen to UNC fans. They're going to the PEACH BOWL. Without a doubt. There's actually people on IC looking for hotel rooms & flights already. They're "so attractive to bowls" they think they're just going to wallop duke and head to ATL. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the top 3 bowls were Orange, Peach, Gator - and those 3 had to go to the top 3 ACC teams. After that there's a hierarchy but the order isn't mandatory. i thought they started this rule after we jumped a couple people to go to the Gator bowl. So really it should be - VT/GT/BC/FSU in the top 4 bowls right? followed then by UNC, UMD, Wake, and whoever else gets eligible.oh and we need Clempsun to lose. and Wake. and UVA. and UNC, just for kicks.^ shit i'd go. get a hotel room and party my ass off that weekend. you just better hope we don't get WVA in the charlotte bowl, you'll be torn in half. 11/24/2008 8:10:25 PM
my preference would be #1 win the game Saturday, #2 Charlotte bowl a couple days after christmas and good time for the weekend, #3 the Nashville bowl for a hell of a party and a bowl game, #4 DC and a party before Christmas, and #5 ANY BOWL.

Haha dude, defense would be an afterthought in a WVU/NCSU bowl game. Unfortunately it would probably be State's D that would be more of an afterthought. No one in the ACC has even close to the speed on offense as WVU.
11/24/2008 8:47:44 PM
it would go both ways thoughour O line vs that terrible D they have?make a good game I think.
11/24/2008 8:49:00 PM
So, if we make a bowl, what are our chances of winning said bowl?
11/24/2008 8:49:18 PM
^^^I hate to play the transitive game, but ECU...WVU...NCSU
11/24/2008 8:50:05 PM
^^^Uh...WVU ranks 33rd nationally in total defense. 44th in pass defense, 41st in rush defense, and 11th in scoring defense.Whereas State is last in the ACC in almost every defensive category (86th in total D). Granted we had all those injuries for most of the year on D.But still, saying WVU's defense is terrible is way off the mark.http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2008/Internet/conf%20stats/DIVISIONB.HTML[Edited on November 24, 2008 at 9:03 PM. 11/24/2008 9:03:24 PM
they havent played anyone
11/24/2008 9:05:54 PM
Not gonna get into a Big East v. ACC thing here, but having been to all the WVU home games this season I can attest that their defense is at least decent.
11/24/2008 9:16:46 PM
Turns out Clempson doesn't have a "p". See that a lot here, so maybe it's intentional.
11/24/2008 9:23:18 PM
haha, i think people that do that are trying to make fun of them some how, like with tarholesyea, i dont get it either
