I work for the school disctrict as computer repair. I have 2 hp nx9010's that i cannot boot because the students put passwords on both of them, bios password, boot password, and hard drive lock (but i can get around that with a new hdd). I tried removing the cmos battery and leaving it overnight, ive tried pretty much everything and i was just hoping someone knew how to decipher hash codes and/or new if there was a specific dip switch somewhere or jumper to reset it.

and just so you know, there is no cover for on either side of the touchpad, its one sheet. The only battery is directly under the keyboard.

Did you follow steps 6-whatever though?Just pulling the cmos battery doesn't reset it. You have to turn it on while plugged into ac power to do that. This is basic computer shit 101 right here, man.

the question is why the hell didnt you have a password on the bios to prevent the little shits from doing this to you in the first place?
