ok, so i'm pretty sure i'll be in raleigh this summer working full time at a summer internship. i was planning on taking mae 306 this spring, but i'm thinking about taking it next summer because i absolutely despise the waste of time that is an ME lab.share your experiences with summer labs. tell me about the format. i assume you meet twice a week during summer II for 306. did you find it easier? harder? were there sections held at night that i could attend after work?share your knowledge, MEs

I did 305 last summer, will do 306 this summer...really not that bad. We ended up just doing two labs a week and it was pretty manageable.

^^I also did both over the summer but in 2007. Yeah you meet 2 times a week but still get a week to do the report. I think every lab did not last nearly as long as they were scheduled, most took around 1 hour IIRC. There were also a couple of "short" lab reports in each section (besides the first ones) that may or may not been due to the TA. They were both definitely easier than the controls lab, but probably because I took 469 along with 20 other hours of mae classes last spring.

Look in the course catalog and you can see last summer's sections:http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/reg_records/crs_cat/MAE.html#MAE305305 - sum1, 306 sum2,each had a 5:50-10pm section.

I was glad I did both over the summer because things get crazy having to balance those with everything else during a Spring/Fall semester.I took 305 with philo 205 online during Summer I and that was very manageable. You have to be careful though because one section gave a week to do the labs, the other required them by the next class.306 was just 305 with other topics, maybe more difficulty with conversions and showing data, but not bad at all. Most don't take up the full time, unless you get a talkative/agnostic group.[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 6:14 PM.
