In the makes no sense department. They are still a few years away from their new park and they just traded away 3/5's of their rotation... just odd.
11/10/2008 2:37:53 PM
Shit the Cardinals were gonna trade Ludwick for Holliday when Ludwick is nearly as good and makes $2.5 million a year compared to Holliday who is going to demand around $15 million most likely.
11/10/2008 3:09:36 PM
hell yes. A's are looking to win in '09. giambi is next.
11/10/2008 3:34:09 PM
shit, the twins were talking to holliday also
11/10/2008 3:35:01 PM
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this and said "Wat?". I was completely expecting him to going to the cardinals, twins or braves.

lol the nats only get players from within the division.... langerhans, harris, milledge, lo duca, im sure there is more
11/10/2008 8:18:09 PM
Tim Lincecum received 23 of 32 first-place votes to win NL Cy Young honors on Tuesday.
11/11/2008 2:23:54 PM
Good for him. He deserved it. Santana should have been 2nd and if the Mets bullpen didn't blow cock he would have won it...
11/11/2008 2:39:12 PM
Brandon Webb was barely the best starter on his own team...I would say Johan should have been 2nd.So glad Lincecum won I like him.
11/11/2008 5:00:06 PM
^ Hard not to....he's only 5'11" and 160 soaking wet. Eats junk food and his idol is Hershiser. This coming from a Dodger fan. Kid is only going to get better.

11/13/2008 1:32:39 PM
^many are saying they have to far outbid other teams as they are a team that doesn't offer anything CC wants (west coast team & NL team are supposedly his top 2 wants)

Cubs are giving up on Kerry Wood. I am surprised seeing that he had a decent season (finally) last year. I assume he is asking for too much money. The Yankees seem like a good fit for Wood. He could take Joba's spot as the 8th inning guy.
11/14/2008 9:36:21 AM
See ya later Kevin Gregg!I hated that dude, now the Cubs get to deal with his shit.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3710934&name=Neyer_RobRob Neyer pretty much spot on.....even if Pedroia isn't born, the Sox win the WC over the Yanks. Also compares him to Chase Utley, who finished 14th in the NL MVP voting.
11/18/2008 5:23:50 PM
Except Chase Utley's stats don't compare to Pedroia's. Rob Neyer is an anti-Red Sox guy just like you are so of course you guys will be pissed. Joe Mauer didn't lead his team to the playoffs so how can he be the MVP. He's a catcher and a catcher will never win the MVP just like it will be a rarity for a closer to ever win the Cy Young. For Mauer to have been MVP he would have needed to win the Triple Crown because he is a catcher. Pedroia led his team down the stretch, granted the Sox had several canidates that led the team Youk, Lester, and Drew.
11/18/2008 6:16:49 PM
Obviously, Youk deserved it more than Pedroia... this is almost, but not quite, as bad as Rollins last year.
11/18/2008 6:25:23 PM
^^Wow I am nominating you for biggest homer on TWW.
11/18/2008 6:31:08 PM
11/18/2008 7:16:00 PM
I stand corrected, but making the playoffs is what got Pedroia the MVP, had the Twins beat the South Siders in the one game playoff things may have been different. Mauer and Pedroia had very similar batting averages Mauer had more RBI's, Pedroia had more doubles and homers and had more total bases doing this while hitting leadoff or second in the order most of the season.Obviously IRod won the MVP in 99 and he was the first since the 70s with Munson and Bench. Campanella was a great player, in today's MLB it will be a rarity to see another MVP catcher. It went to Pedroia because he was hot at the end of the season. Mid way through the season it was Youk, and he was the team MVP in my opinion, but Mourneau and Mauer were a good tandem also.
11/18/2008 8:31:02 PM
So no response to how I completely owned your arguement?
11/18/2008 9:27:55 PM
pedroia was hot in the middle and end of the seasonhis batting average per month:April .306May .260June .356July .350August .374September: .326Youkilis wasnt "hotter" than Dustin at any point in the season really...
11/18/2008 9:29:56 PM
What do you want from me?There was no clear cut run a way favorite for AL MVP this year. So comparing what an NL player in the same position does is not going to mean anything in the AL. Utley hit a lot of Home runs in a park that is a home run park. Rob Neyer is small market team fan so he will always root against the success of the big market teams (Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs) Chase Utley's stats were comparable to Pedroia's and I stand corrected on that but, comparing NL Stats to AL Stats is like comparing apples and oranges. Thats what is wrong about Neyer's argument you can't compare the voting in the NL to the AL especially when there was no clear cut MVP in the league this season.

Josh Hamilton was the closest thing to a sure thing IMHO.If Kinsler doesn't get hurt, he puts up even better numbers. How does he finish 7th behind KRod? Are you kidding? And WTF how did Jason Bartlett get a vote? lol.
