So just got a new computer and I am wanting to get a sweet ass game for it. I was thinking of getting WoW, I have played it a few times liked it alot, but I have heard it is really going down hill. Any suggestions? I was also thinking of Warhammer or Age of Conan, I am just not sure.

Fallout 3 unless it HAS to be an mmohttp://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=475347as far as WoW is concerned, the new expansion is released in a week so that may be a good reason to get into it now.[Edited on November 7, 2008 at 3:14 PM. Reason : .]

That depends on what you're looking for in an MMORPG.For example, there almost no "raiding" or "end game bosses" in Warhammer Online, whereas this is a focus in World of Warcraft. Warhammer Online is focused almost entirely on PVP.

where did you hear it's "going downhill"?If you mean people that have been playing for 2+ years, then yeah, they are probably getting bored with it

the last two patches for Age of Conan have really set it in the right direction.much improved from the launch fiasco

i am looking for something i can just play casually. maybe just an hour or two a night if that. so maybe mmorpg isn't a smart move but yet i want something i can play online with other people.damn never thought buying a game was such a complicated decision.

Eve Online

COD4 or something like that is a great single player game that you can jump online for a few match in an hour or two.

If you want a well polished yet older game then go with WoW.If you want a newer, more PvP based game that still needs some refinement then go with Warhammer. If you have friends whom you can play with then FFXI is still alive and kicking and is still one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. I say the friends thing because FFXI is very dependent upon grouping in order to level substantially or to get anything meaningful done.

The problem with WoW is that to get anywhere in the game you have to spend a few hours at a time at least. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is for someone who just wants to play casually.

yeah so i decided to go with WoW.............I figure with the new expansion comming out it will take me a while to get bored with it. anywho thanks for all the info.

If you just want something casual try dungeon runners.
11/8/2008 10:03:22 AM
you really can't get more casual that wow as far as mmo's go.

WoW is your best bet. Especially since there is a new expansion coming out Thursday.

did you buy the game yet? i have an account that i transferred a character off of so there isnt anything on it. i'll sell it to you for $10 if you are interested.

you are right, EQ was way more casual...
11/8/2008 12:58:30 PM
^^ if you're just soloing and not going for the best gear, it can be casual
11/8/2008 1:06:36 PM
No Guild Wars mention? Oh well....
11/8/2008 1:07:54 PM
^^That's pretty much the only reason to play the game. WoW is a bad game for trying to play solo once you max level.
11/8/2008 1:14:32 PM
not many casual gamers reach the max level on WoW that fast.
11/8/2008 1:21:31 PM
jesus christ it is taking forver to get all the patches
11/8/2008 1:43:24 PM
Considering 3.0 was over a gig itself (mostly because it's Wrath content) yeah, it takes a while.
11/8/2008 1:57:05 PM
Don't start WoW. It's a trap

I'm still a Civilization IV fan...

Id have to agree with Dungeon Runners for casual play -- you can choose to go free, or pay $5 per month(gives you some pretty good benefits) - fun game if you were into games like diablo and such.

Dont go eve online. It was and still is a unique and immersive alternative to mmorpg's these days but its probably gonna die within about 2 years. The devs are doing so many things wrong its like they want the game to end. Its no longer worth the subscription fee, but other (spaceship) sci-fi mmos will be coming out soon like the free jumpgate evolution and star trek online. If you're into that kind of stuff.

^ I am still waiting for a space MMORPG with in-cockpit aiming and firing... this third person click and fire thing just doesn't do it for me.
