well, it isn't halloween-esque, but "claire de lune" is certainly awesome in ocean's 11 (and probably other movies...)

Elliot Goldenthal's "Finale" from TitusHans Zimmer's "Journey To The Line" from The Thin Red LineJon Brion's "I've Got A Surprise For You Today" from Magnolia (while not as grand, had to have been influenced by Zimmer on this one)Yann Tiersen's "Goodbye Lenin!" from Goodbye Lenin! (this entire soundtrack is really good)Trevor Jones "The Kiss" from The Last Of The Mohicans

Philip Glass(cliche, I know, but he's probably the greatest living composer, and he's ditched the synths for a real orchestra)inThe Illusionist:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy6O5RdVaYU&feature=relatedThe movie was driven by the music, it was almost constant and mixed very loud, which was good, because otherwise the movie was lackluster. I went into the theater not expecting much, but ended up closing my eyes most of the time just enjoying an orgy of triplets. Very little percussion, but he really cranks the bass and cello and there's no one who builds suspense better than him.
