As I have it planned, all of my courses will be on MWF, largely concentrated on MW. My day will start at 10:15 and go to 5:45 with a hour break for lunch. On friday I would have class from 10:15 until 12:10. I realize this is unlikely to actually happen, due to classes filling up, but I was wondering if anyone had any prior experience scheduling this way. I don't think my classes will be too difficult (FLF 101, SOC 220, ENG 288, ENG 305, ENG 323) so it is probably doable. Please share experiences.

LOTS of people do this, or even all T/H. Obviously you will hate those days, but love the days off. You just need to be disciplined enough to actually do your work on your days off and you'll be fine. But none of that should be news to you.
10/24/2008 12:24:53 PM
ha, I did this but had my classes on tues and thurs. I hated those days but it was nice having the others off.
10/24/2008 12:27:58 PM
i did this fall 2004 and i loved it
10/24/2008 12:28:50 PM
this semester and next semester will all be tuesday thursday
10/24/2008 12:31:31 PM
I did this except for a senior design that meets for FIVE FUCKING MINUTES ON MW (I waste about an hour an a half to go to this five minute lecture)oh, and work. that kind of ruins the whole thing.
10/24/2008 12:42:46 PM
Last spring, I managed to have all classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. That was a lot of awesome. Next spring I have to be content with one class on Friday.
10/24/2008 1:17:53 PM
i have a class on T/H from 10:15 to 11:30i really think this is going to work out well
10/24/2008 1:22:18 PM
this semester I am straight through on MWF from 9:10-2:20, then break til 3 for my 3-5:45 labs on MWitfuckingsuckssure, having tuesday off and then just a problem session on thursday is nice...but it doesn't replace that I am in class for nearly 8 hours on MW. I am a wastoid when I get home at 6ish
10/24/2008 1:40:49 PM
I had one semester where all classes were on TH, and i worked a full day MWF.it fucking sucked.worst semester of college by far.
10/24/2008 1:49:42 PM
I did this several times and I noticed that towards the end of the day, I started skipping classes. Or I'd wake up and not want to go to 5 classes that day, so I'd sleep late and skip the morning classes. It honestly made me more likely to skip classes just because it was such a long day.

^ bingo

its better for most people to just have no class on Friday if you can work it out.I'm walls1441 and i approved this message.
10/24/2008 2:39:05 PM
My last semester I had a Monday evening only class and a Wednesday evening only class. My other classes were Tuesday/Thursday. It was nice because I had all day friday off and monday and wednesday mornings.
10/24/2008 2:42:49 PM
I did all tue/thur one semesteri was f'in useless. i'd get done late thursday nights and basically not do anything for school until i went to class the next tuesday. wednesday is about the only day i'd do any real school work-i didnt do very good that semester..but that's mainly me just not trying
10/24/2008 2:56:25 PM
The second semester of my first senior year (yeah, I had 2 of them) I had my schedule to where i had no classes on Fridays, and my only class on Monday was at 6PM. 4 day weekends all semester. Tuesdays and Thursdays sucked though.
10/24/2008 2:58:06 PM
Jeez, what a bunch of whiners! Don't go to grad school then! My classes are from 8-5 M-F every single day. Now thats what sucks.

That's what I'm doing this semester. I have class Monday from 8am until 6:15 pm with a break from 2 to 5, Wednesday from 11am to 6:15 pm, and Friday from 11 to 2. It's pretty awesome. I don't see why you wouldn't do it this way. It leaves two free days to get shit done, but I work long days on T/Th so I don't really get to capitalize on that. I like going to school, so I don't mind the long days at all. I figure this schedule could be awesome if you don't have to work on the other days.
10/24/2008 3:56:12 PM
I did it a few time where I had all my classes on monday, wednesday and either tuesday or thursdayBut I was truant no matter when my classes were
10/24/2008 4:10:19 PM
I'm doing the same thing - I have to drive an hour and a half to campus, so this is the only way I could make my schedule work without having to drive back and forth every day - plus I have an online course (ARE 201) and possibly a Distance Ed (CSC 401)
10/24/2008 4:16:47 PM
ahttp://www...that's "like" your full time jobI'm doing the 8-hour thing and then working at the restaurant right after that til 11ish
10/24/2008 5:14:11 PM
lol, epic fail
10/24/2008 5:26:37 PM
All MWF is the sux. I did a semester with 20 hours all on T/Th. It was awesome. Went from 8am - ~9:45pm with a few hours breaks in there. Was so amazing. 4 day weekends every week. T/Th were terrible, but you just numb yourself up, get it done, and chill.EDIT: Okay, so that's ideal. I worked 8 hours of the MWF, but it was a job where I could just do homework, so it wasn't too bad.[Edited on October 25, 2008 at 2:01 AM. Reason : m]

If you're disciplined, you can do it. I was one of those "go to class when there's an exam involved and sometimes, only when it's a final" students.
10/25/2008 4:44:49 AM
Yeah I had several semesters with no Friday courses, those were great semesters, haha. Then towards the end of my run I had online courses so I only had 2-3 classes to actually go to campus for so I'd only have like 1-2 classes a day Mon-Thurs with Fri. off, so it was good. What I would do would be sleep in a little Friday, get up and do any work that I had for the weekend, and then I had my weekend free to do whatever I wanted. Worked well for me, but I was taking upper-level CSC courses that didn't have much hw outside of group projects.

i am doing this this semester. there's also an online class in there. tues and thurs suck but i have lots of time to study and do HW between classes. i work 8-12 mon and wed and 8-5 on friday. it takes a lot of discipline because a lot of HW has to get done on the (4 day) weekend. working on monday and friday kinda keeps me in check though. i'm not sure if i would do this again. i think i'd like MWF a lot better.
10/26/2008 11:34:35 AM
I did this my last semester at State. I only had to take 3 classes though so did T-Th. It was $$$.My grad school schedule SUCKS though.I have work from 7-3:30 then class from 6 to 10 3 nights a week...
10/26/2008 5:25:19 PM
I had class from 8:30 -6 TH and 9:10 - 7 MWF my first semester. You should be fine, just do work on your days off.I have had ONE day with no school or work since the beginning of this year. You can do it. I'd give A LOT for two days off per week.
10/26/2008 8:45:16 PM
a couple semesters i only had classes on t,w,&htues & thurs were really long days and wednesdays i usually only had one class in the evenings. i really liked it because it gave me more time to get homework done during the day & i could work more. those semesters were always my highest gpa also
10/26/2008 9:15:59 PM
semester with the highest gpa for me was when i had busy m-w and then only one class th and fri....i knew if i got past wednesday i could coast the rest of the week until the weekend
10/26/2008 9:18:00 PM
i did all tuesday and thursday during fall 2001probably one of my best semesters
10/26/2008 9:21:37 PM
I can't really tell you if it's good or bad, b/c it's the only thing I ever knew - - I worked full time my entire time in college, and always had all of my classes on T/H. Never really minded it, and got everything out of the way that needed to be done in one whack. Yay!
10/26/2008 9:23:42 PM
One semester I had no Monday or Friday classes
10/26/2008 9:27:10 PM
I did 18 hours on Tues and Thurs my senior year and it was fantastic.
10/26/2008 11:04:49 PM
I only did tuesday/thursday. 5 days off is nice
