I moved to MD and heard that MD auto insurance is more expensive than NC. Should I keep the insurance in NC? I pay about $110/month for 1 new car for myself with clean record.

why not ask an agent in MD what the price would be for comparable coverage...or you can do it online even

on the whole, it's typically a lot cheaper in north carolina. it all depends on where you're moving in maryland though. i moved from raleigh to baltimore (city) last year and with nationwide the equivalent coverage policy was going to be roughly 3x as much as i was paying in raleigh. rates will be significantly higher near DC and Baltimore. i'd definitely shop around though - geico has decent rates in MD and ended up getting me a quote for only 2x my raleigh rates.

i doubt you will be allowed to keep the insurance in NC.at any rate, just be glad you aren't having to pay for insurance in FL.

rates are based on your garaging address of the car.you can lie if you want, but they can deny coverage or force you to pay the additional premiums before paying a claim if they catch you.
