There are some intriguing matchups that could take place for the BCS National title game this year. Here are a few:Texas vs. USC - Rematch of 05 title gameAlabama vs. Penn State - Rematch 79 sugar bowl title gameTexas vs. Oklahoma - unlikely but possible, OU is #4 in BCSUSC vs. Ohio State - I just puked a lil in my mouth as I typed thatGeorgia vs. USC - the two best teams at the end of last yearFlorida vs. Texas - 2 huge fan bases, Tebow vs ColtFlorida vs. USC - 2 most athletic teams in the countryLSU vs Ohio State - Rematch of last years title gameFlorida vs. Ohio State - Rematch of 06 title gameUSC vs. Alabama - Saban vs Carroll, possibly the 2 most powerful coaches in college footballUSC vs. Oklahoma - Rematch of 04 title gameGeorgia vs. Oklahoma - Stafford vs. Bradford winner is #1 draft pick

God mark those out with tOSU....it better not fucking happen.
10/22/2008 3:36:10 PM
Michigan-Ohio StateIt's only fair the nation gets the rematch that it demands. This is as fair a matchup as it would've been two years ago...
10/22/2008 3:37:35 PM
hahaha man that wouldve been so horrible if the big ten had gotten their way on that game
10/22/2008 3:39:26 PM
as an Ohio State fan, I dont want to see OSU in the title game again this year
10/22/2008 3:40:51 PM
PLAYOFFS
10/22/2008 3:41:20 PM
At this point I have to go with Penn St. vs Texas, I dont give Alabama a chance of surviving the rest of the SEC along with a title game without a loss
10/22/2008 3:41:52 PM
This will be THE year the Big 10 really wishes it had a Championship game
10/22/2008 3:41:59 PM
I dont believe Penn State survives this week in Columbushorseshoe night game41-24 Ohio state
10/22/2008 3:44:14 PM
So if Penn St. wins and stays third for the rest of the year, they won't get in over Bama and UT if they remain undefeated. If tOSU wins by 144 they won't get in over Bama and UT if they remain undefeated. Big 10 is a lonnnnnnnnnnng shot at the title game this year...

Big 10 is not that big of a long shotif penn state wins at OSU, then they will more than likely win out and play for the national titleTexas and/or Alabama will lose at least once, both have to play conference title gamesremainder of penn state schedule after saturday@ Iowa 5-3vs. Indiana 2-5vs. Mich State 6-2 but just got blown out 45-7 at homeOhio State is #9 in BCS, definitely not that long of a shot to make title especially if there only loss is a cross country loss to HIGHLY ranked USC
10/22/2008 4:06:39 PM
Penn State definitely has a shot if they continue to run the table, but Ohio State should not even be in the discussion^but their loss to USC was a blowout loss[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:14 PM. Reason : .]
10/22/2008 4:14:13 PM
what happens if OSU and oklahoma win out, and all the others lose at least one?Texas would have to lose the big 12 championship.wouldn't that be some shit
10/22/2008 4:15:05 PM
epic double post[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:15 PM. Reason : .]
Well, if a Big 10 team happens to make it, I'll put take out a second mortgage and take whoever they're playing. 5 week layoff before the NC game? Gimme a break....BTW, USC would make it over OSU if they don't lose again, same with like 6 other teams...Shit they're more likely to take a one loss BYU team over tOSU [Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:19 PM. Reason : s]
10/22/2008 4:17:01 PM
"if they dont lose again" being the key words
10/22/2008 4:19:30 PM
let's all just pull real hard for penn state and avoid that whole situation.
10/22/2008 4:21:29 PM
Two BCS computers ranked FLORIDA 16th and 19th in the countrywhat a joke
10/22/2008 4:21:43 PM
Uhhh, the odds of OSU making the NC game are about google to one dude
10/22/2008 4:22:01 PM
the Nittany Lions will go into Columbus and get the W and go ahead and silence all the Buckeyes-for-BCS supporters for the year
10/22/2008 4:22:11 PM
I'd love to see tOSU win out.... and Tulsa or Utah get into the NC game.
10/22/2008 4:28:34 PM
hey i hate Ohio State but its not that unlikely that they get back into the title gameOhio State is #9 right now in BCS- they will probably beat the #3 team this saturday- 4 teams ahead of them in BCS are Big 12, three will lose again because they play each other- Georgia/ Alabama cannot both win out because of title gamethats 6 teams ahead of them that WILL fallthey win out and they are definitely top 3 in BCS
10/22/2008 4:30:33 PM
i just dont see any way they make it to the title game a 3rd year in a row, when they've gotten absolutely embarrassed the last 2 years...it wont happen...if it does i might literally consider boycotting college football
10/22/2008 4:31:48 PM
I read somewhere that USC as a school would actually get more revenue from missing out on the NC and going to the rose bowl instead.
10/22/2008 4:33:28 PM
^Well, they'd sell a shitload of tickets for sure, don't know where else the discrepancy would be, except for travel costs.^^^^ The only thing is the "probably". They are underdogs on the National stage. Also, a one loss Big 12 team this year>one loss tOSU team.[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:35 PM. Reason : s][Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:36 PM. 10/22/2008 4:35:02 PM
USC will have to lose again for OSU to have a chance....if they don't, you're probably gonna have either a 1 loss SEC team and/or a 1 loss big 12 team and a 1 loss USC team. No way OSU jumps over a 1 loss USC team after the beat down head to head....if anything, USC's fate depends on OSU winning out to make that win look better.^I think it was tickets combined with the rose bowl big 10/pac-10 contract stipulations[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 4:40 PM. Reason : .]
10/22/2008 4:39:32 PM
Yeah, the payouts for the Rose or BCS game are the same, so the amount of ticket revenue + much less travel/entertainment costs = a higher payout.
10/22/2008 4:50:08 PM
I think the Rose Bowl pays more than any other BCS bowl and probably equivalent to National championship pay
10/22/2008 4:50:11 PM
You could have shorten the first post by putting Georgia/Florida instead of listing them separately seeing that one will be officially eliminated from NC consideration in a couple of weeks.
10/22/2008 5:01:07 PM
Just looked, if tOSU actually gets in (somehow) they'd play 47 days after their last game. 6 weeks, 5 days after their last game...
10/22/2008 5:01:33 PM
florida is out. done for. finished. even if they somehow win out they have a loss to ole miss there is no way they are ahead of a 1 loss big10 champ that lost to usc or possibly undefeated big10 champ. a 1 loss (oklahoam, okstate, tech) or possibly undefeated big12 champ. lsu right now is 20s in some computers they won't make it up either without the secchamp game.ohio state with their only loss coming early on the road to usc with an old qb will not be denied. haven't you guys learned this yet? unless the big12 beats each other up they will be playing the winner of this weekends big10 championship game and the sec will have the bcs removed.so the wildcard is bama. i'm hoping they can run the table with penn state and texas to really do this system in.
10/22/2008 5:14:03 PM
you know who else is out, done for, finished? ohio stateflorida is still very much alive, or did you miss a TWO loss SEC team getting in last year?[Edited on October 22, 2008 at 5:19 PM. Reason : .]
10/22/2008 5:18:01 PM
as much as I dont think Ohio State (to this point in the season) deserves to play for the national championship, it's not out of the question. Yes, the voters and most of america doesn't want to see, but keep in mind the computers have a big say in the BCS standings.
10/22/2008 5:31:50 PM
You're right it is possible for them to make it just like its possible for Utah. Its just not likely. Last year everybody kept losing.alabamapenn stateohio stateoklahomatexas(2x)texas tech(2x if texas is undefeated)oklahoma state(2x if texas is undefeated)and maybe even uscall have to lose for florida to get in. those are some pretty dominant teams and I'm pretty sure florida will lose another game and it won't be an issue.Im pretty sure it will be big12 vs big10 (texas vs penn state anyone?)
10/22/2008 5:34:57 PM
i predict that if they make it to the title game, ohio state chokes yet again, whoever they may play.
10/22/2008 5:42:27 PM
I want to see an SEC-Big12 matchup, anything else will be a disappointment for me
10/22/2008 7:56:28 PM
You guys didn't put Wake Forest, Florida State, South Florida or Pittsburgh in the title.lol, jk
10/22/2008 11:16:44 PM
10/22/2008 11:24:21 PM
Agreed on non-conference champs being ineligible. If Im supposed to buy that "the regular season is a playoff", then no way should you be in the title game if you didnt win your conference title (and especially if you werent even in the conference title game).
10/23/2008 12:38:50 AM
Excellently put.
10/23/2008 12:43:50 AM
Florida is very much ALIVEany SEC team with 1 loss right now is alive If florida wins out, they will make the title game, nothing else has to happenThe 1 loss SEC champion will be in the title game no matter what, even over an unbeaten Penn Statenow put that in your pipe and smoke it
10/23/2008 8:52:46 AM
^^^bad logic. lets say oklahoma plays ohio state, usc and lsu in the nonconference, beats them all then loses to texas who loses to iowa state, tcu, arkansas, and washinton state. Texas wins the division. Now you're telling me that if ohio state wins the big10, usc wins the pac10, lsu wins the sec, and the bigeast/acc teams have 2 or more losses that ou doesn't deserve to be in the title game?
10/23/2008 9:11:19 AM
Utah
10/23/2008 9:13:26 AM
^^ what the hell are you talking about??
10/23/2008 10:55:57 AM
^^^what the hell are you talking about??If hypothetically OU was to kick three top 5 teams ass and then lose to a team that was beaten by four shit teams, you really think they deserve a shot at the NC? [Edited on October 23, 2008 at 11:06 AM. Reason : a]
10/23/2008 11:03:45 AM
IF oklahoma beats the Giants, Cowboys, Colts, Patriots, and Chargers but loses to texas and texas wins the division, oklahoma deserves to play in the super bowl but not the BCS
