Might as well have a thread about it.....Top to bottom it is no contest, The SEC is KING
10/13/2008 9:02:45 AM
attention users... but seriously, i was thinking about this... big 12 is looking good top to bottom, im not so sure this year... i would not say the SEC is outright king as of now
10/13/2008 9:18:55 AM
i promise you we'll know more after the BCS championship game
10/13/2008 9:31:05 AM
don't worry, if Ohio State runs the table and loses to another SEC team in the NC, the dick sucking can continue for the SEC.
10/13/2008 9:38:37 AM
Right now you have to like Penn St. to play in the title game as I dont think both texas and alabama both make it the rest of the way without a loss.
10/13/2008 9:55:19 AM
As of today if they played a BIG 12/ SEC challenge similar to the ACC/ BIG 10 (basketball) heres how it would lookTexas (6-0) vs. Alabama (6-0)Oklahoma State(6-0) vs Florida (5-1)Texas Tech (6-0) vs. Georgia (5-1)Oklahoma (5-1) vs. LSU (4-1)Kansas (5-1) vs. Vanderbilt (5-1)Missouri (5-1) vs. South Carolina (5-2)Kansas State (4-2) vs. Kentucky (4-2)Nebraska (3-3) vs. Auburn (4-3)Baylor (3-3) vs. Arkansas (3-3)Colorado (3-3) vs. Mississippi (3-3)Texas A&M (2-4) vs. Tennessee (2-4)Iowa State (2-4) vs. Miss. State (2-4)
10/13/2008 10:01:02 AM
is it dick sucking when you prove it year after year?the ACC hasn't had a team end in the top 5 since FSU was #5 in 2000-2001[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 10:03 AM. Reason : 1]
10/13/2008 10:03:27 AM
I will say that the big 12 plays a more exciting brand of football. The SEC is fundamentally better football, but can be extremely boring to watch.
10/13/2008 10:08:21 AM
here are my picks in boldTexas (6-0) vs. Alabama (6-0)Oklahoma State(6-0) vs Florida (5-1)Texas Tech (6-0) vs. Georgia (5-1) <---could go either wayOklahoma (5-1) vs. LSU (4-1)Kansas (5-1) vs. Vanderbilt (5-1)Missouri (5-1) vs. South Carolina (5-2)Kansas State (4-2) vs. Kentucky (4-2)Nebraska (3-3) vs. Auburn (4-3)Baylor (3-3) vs. Arkansas (3-3)Colorado (3-3) vs. Mississippi (3-3)Texas A&M (2-4) vs. Tennessee (2-4)Iowa State (2-4) vs. Miss. nothing compares to the top half of the big12just look at the qbs and it will set you free.[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 6:30 PM. Reason : the truth will set thou free. sec can't score]
10/13/2008 6:27:57 PM
the sec is profoundly over-rated this yearit's funny how some many of the SEC dick-riders are trumpeting defenses to cover up the shitty, shitty offenses 9 of the 12 teams have
10/13/2008 6:49:37 PM
lsu florida wasnt a bad game to watch. good amount of turnovers. few big plays. some good returns. lotta broken tackles for florida runs.[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 10:15 PM. Reason : high scoring too]
10/13/2008 10:15:03 PM
I thought this thread was going to be about the SEC Championship game.
10/13/2008 10:46:46 PM
Florida and Alabama are better than any team in the Big 12
10/29/2008 2:18:07 PM
false
10/29/2008 3:46:41 PM
^I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.Defense>Offense more than not.
10/29/2008 3:48:20 PM
i like how conferences hate the sec so much they have to tag team with other conferences to form some type of argument against their dominance
10/29/2008 5:26:24 PM
i like how sec lovers suck the sec off so hard that when confronted with legitimate arguments as to why they might not be the best, they revert back to "They're the SEC, of course they're dominant."
10/29/2008 6:03:04 PM
arguing with an SEC fan is kind of like playing tennis against a wall.
10/29/2008 10:42:21 PM
they always win?
10/29/2008 10:42:47 PM
no you can't get anything through to themCan't really get mad though, i'd probably be an asshole about it too if the ACC was having a dominant decade.[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 10:52 PM. Reason : .]
10/29/2008 10:50:59 PM
Hey guys! someone mention the SEC?
10/29/2008 11:34:53 PM
10/29/2008 11:52:26 PM
SEC dominates...........ohio state, thats about it
10/30/2008 9:00:48 AM
i love SEC football and they top to bottom have the best athletes in college football. that being said, i often feel that their conference is SLIGHTLY overrated. i can't remember where i read this, but other than bcs games (which obviously are important) the big 10 and sec are about even in bowl game match-ups with regards to wins and losses. and that is the big 10. i know bcs games are more important but still. this is why the sec usually gets so much props, because they always have a couple of national champ. contenders. this year it would be close but i do give the slight edge to the SEC because of conference depth.sec football is awesome but i think that sometimes it gets a little too hyped.
10/30/2008 9:09:58 AM
^^ ^ I agree with most of that. Year in year out there's no question that the SEC is the best conference. This particular year I would say its tied with the Big12, mainly due to Tennessee and Auburn struggling so much. And once again, you cant use bowl win comparisons to determine that... anyone can step up in one game (see Michigan vs. Florida last year), you have to consider the entire season. West Virginia beat a bad Auburn team. Good job. But if they then had to play Florida the next week, then Alabama, then Georgia, then LSU, thats a whole different story than beating Auburn and then going back to smack around Syracuse, UConn, Rutgers etc.
10/30/2008 12:07:35 PM
^agree, definitely with the West Virginia bit. but when comparing bowl games it is more than one game. i am talking about the record all time with respect to bowl games btw. sec and big 10. overall though sec is best conference year in and year out.just compare the two top to bottom:SEC - Florida, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss. St., Arkansas, Vanderbilt, AuburnBig XII: Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma St., Kansas, Baylor, Iowa St., Colorado, Kansas St., Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&MIf I have to choose which conference i play in and have to play those teams give me the Big XII every single year. This year it is closer probably, but every year I want to play those Big XII teams.
10/30/2008 1:30:47 PM
Auburn sucks. They won't make a bowl this year
10/30/2008 1:39:36 PM
^^ I meant one game as in that one team doesn't have to play ANOTHER SEC team the week after the bowl game...
10/30/2008 1:49:58 PM
hah! you call Michigan beating Florida UM stepping up...I saw it as an exposing of Florida's 2-man offense and bad defensethe SEC is a failure this year compared to the hypehypehypeBama, Florida, and UGA (somewhat, but whipping a pitiful LSU team doesn't really sell me on them yet)LSU - terrible defense and almost as bad offenseKentucky - probably the worst team I've ever seen in person (at the Swamp last weekend)...Navy could have put up a better fight against Florida with it's 3rd string QB than KY didVandy - nice story to start, but you just lost to duke...show's over, nothing to see hereOle Miss - they beat florida (I guess that's where JayBee get's his argument about having to play in the SEC being tough week in and week out), but lost to a Wake team that has fallen miles from where they were the last two yearsMSU - offense? what offense?Auburn - lollable...I love how SEC fanboys pointed to the AU-MSU game as a showcase for the SEC's great defensesArkansas - good thing you let your boosters run your program into the groundSouth Carolina - dr jeckel and mr spurrier?Tennessee - only reason they don't get more shit is because Michigan is even worse this year and thus absorbing most of the national ribbingi mean even Orson over at EDSBS (a bigger SEC homer than JayBee is) admits that the SEC doesn't deserve any S-E-C chants this year[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 2:21 PM. Reason : .]
10/30/2008 2:20:10 PM
Personally, I think that the SEC should just have a 12 team tournament to decide the NC every year. It's not fair that other conferences don't have to play SEC teams week after week. This is the only way to find a fair/true champion.I'm objective.^ lies. Mississippi State would run the table in any other BCS conference. They only appear to suck because they play SEC teams every week...[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 2:47 PM. Reason : x]

The only regular season game between the 2 conferences Texas 52Arkansas 10SEC IS STILL SUPREME!
10/30/2008 3:20:16 PM
yeah, I was wrong, you guys are right, the SEC is horrible, just horrible.I dont know what I and everyone else was thinking all the years, we are ALL wrong. Every last person that knows football was wrong.WAC football!... its FANtastic!
10/30/2008 3:35:11 PM
Other than Arkansas/Texas, the two conferences rarely play each other. Georgia blew out Oklahoma State last year, that's really the only game that comes to mind recently. The SEC is really top heavy this year. You have 3 really good teams in Bama, UGA, and UF that could beat any team in the country on any given day. I still think LSU is really good. They would take all but about 10 teams to the woodshed. The rest of the conference is average and down. South Carolina isn't awful and Ole Miss has their moments. After that, what do you have? Vanderbilt and Kentucky started off hot, but they have forgetten how to score. Auburn and Tennessee never really got the ball rolling and both are probably going to miss bowl games unless they pull an upset. Arkansas are Miss St are terrible. The good teams at the top are masking the suckfest towards the bottom. We'll see what happens come bowl season again...last year the SEC went 7-2[Edited on October 30, 2008 at 3:45 PM. Reason : 1]
10/30/2008 3:44:30 PM
you can really only make a conference to conference comparison by watching a SHITLOAD of games in all conferences. You cant go by record against each other, you cant go by bowl games, you cant go by National Champ. games. I think the SEC is better than the Big10, BUT I dont think they are nearly as better as one might think JUST going by the last two National Champ. games (once again, evidence that I am not a homer).
10/30/2008 3:48:56 PM
the last 2 national championships are just evidence of how poorly the Big 10 is.The SEC is that dominant when you look at all of the conferences out there. SEC has a larger region of great high school football to recruit from and when you have the coaches that they have in the SEC, its all about recruiting.BIG 12 doesnt compare if you look at coaches
10/30/2008 4:40:53 PM
it's official...the SEC is tough top to bottomif the top is Bama and the bottom is florida and the other 10 teams get kicked out of the conference
11/2/2008 11:08:01 AM
11/2/2008 11:30:25 AM
^^So because Alabama and Florida are top 5 teams, the rest of the league sucks???
11/2/2008 11:41:07 AM
no, please see my previous post about the shitty quality of the SEC...now throw UGA onto the trash pile and you'll see a league that simply does not have anything close to the depth or toughness that is needed to even have a discussion about the SEC being the best conference THIS year[Edited on November 2, 2008 at 12:56 PM. Reason : ,]
11/2/2008 12:55:41 PM
The SEC might not be the best conference this year but the National Title winner will be from the SEC. Defense wins championships and the SEC plays defense where the Big 12 does not. The Big 12 has great QB's and offense's.
11/2/2008 1:11:04 PM
Navy would pummel anyone in the SEC in their sleep. They are just the bestest!!!!!my name is goalielax and i approve this message.
11/2/2008 1:17:54 PM
I guess you will still say that UGA sucks when they beat your Georgia Tech team too right?
11/2/2008 1:40:03 PM
tech expects to lose to uga every yearuga is a better football teamare they national championship contenders, no, but they are better than a bunch of nerds
11/2/2008 1:43:01 PM
first of all, GT is not "my" team. I have season tickets because I love the triple option and think Paul Johnson is a great coach...don't be bitter because NC State passed on him. i will always root for Navy 1st, NCSU 2nd, and GT 3rd. when the pack plays tech I will ALWAYS root for the packsecondly, who has UGAg beat this year to justify any sort of claim of decency? as it stands right now, they either claim their best win as against South Carolina (who gave that game away) or Vandy (who just lost to Duke)...hardly worthy of any hype, and certainly a far cry from the expectations for them this year. i ABSOLUTELY expect GT to have a shot at beating UGAg this year...GT's defense (especially the DL) is in the Top 15 nationally in total defense and third, I never said Navy could beat ANYONE in the SEC. I simply said that Navy could have played a better game than Kentucky had against Florida...not a long stretch of the imagination when all you need to meet that expectation is score ONE offensive touchdownfinally, this thread was started to slob up on the SEC's dick...it has been proven by now that the SEC is not nearly as good as everyone thought they were. do I think a SEC team will win the NC? I'm 50/50 on that right now. if it's Florida vs. PSU, then it's more like 75% in favor of Florida[Edited on November 2, 2008 at 2:35 PM. Reason : .]
