i have a list im whittling down...or at least attempting to. Its tough though to compare certain bands/albums that are near polar opposites. :/ And I still have a small list of albums to get or ones I have that I have barely gotten to listen to.[Edited on October 8, 2008 at 7:36 PM. Reason : ]

10/8/2008 7:54:55 PM
i haven't really loved anything that's come out this year, but i probably listened to the carter 3, feed the animals, and syclops "i've got my eye on you" more than others.. the fleet foxes album got old after two weeks (kind of like that peter bjorn and john album from last year)

Jenny's Hangnail - Robot VisionsMan, I haven't heard of most of the bands listed. Either y'all only listen to indie shit, or I've become that old guy that can't listen to anything new.
10/9/2008 7:19:01 AM
Why can't it be both?My list so far, semi-off the top of my head:Fleet Foxes - Ragged WoodRa Ra Riot - The Rhumb LineTV on the Radio - Dear Science, Black Kids - Partie TraumaticMates of State - Re-Arrange UsShe and Him - Volume One
10/9/2008 7:46:12 AM
^i've enjoyed each one of those as well. i think the okkervil river album has probably been my most played. Its just so complete front to back.i'm trying to pull up some of these others that have been listed that i have not yet heard.
10/9/2008 8:14:34 AM
I def. need to listen to The Stand Ins some more--it just doesn't seem as amazing as The Stage Names right off the bat, so I haven't really given it a good listen.
10/9/2008 8:17:47 AM
I got over Black Kids reeeeaaally quickly.
10/9/2008 8:27:59 AM
black who?just kidding. it's a fun album and i don't know why pitchfork decided to shit on it.

m83 - saturday=youthfleet foxes - s/tcut copy - in ghost coloursgirl talk - feed the animalsthose are about the only albums i'd support for a "top album" position.i play the hell out of tokyo police club - elephant shell, but i don't think it's as solid an album to compete with the big boys.
10/9/2008 11:28:06 AM

10/9/2008 2:37:58 PM
^that's a very good list, except I haven't listened to the new Kings of Leon yet...I liked their last album though
10/9/2008 2:44:22 PM
am i the only one that didn't think too much of the new tv on the radio? i mean i gave it a solid chance, but it just didn't do anything for me.
10/9/2008 2:50:48 PM
^ i enjoyed it but it didnt stick with me well at all, got old fast.^^ I liked their last one as well, this one didnt go over too well with me first listen. I'll give it another go somewhere down the line.^^^ I still need to check out the new Hold Steady. and The Gaslight Anthem album is good, I just got it though last week so I still need time to let it sink it. But so far it has a chance to be one of my favorites this year.
10/9/2008 2:53:40 PM
^I wasn't feeling Stay Positive at first and was kind of disappointed, but the more I've listened to it the more I like it, probably not as good as Boys and Girls in America or Separation Sunday but it's excellent nonetheless
10/9/2008 3:05:19 PM
oh yeahbig ups for Why? - Alopeciai can't stop listening to it
10/12/2008 1:35:05 PM

I'll definitely have to add Department of Eagles to my list.
10/20/2008 10:26:57 AM
I forgot Cool Hand Luke's "The Sleeping House." Its a really solid record and one of my favorites of this year that I just forgot in my first post, my only big knock on it is the same knock I have on the new Copeland. Both albums are extremely piano heavy with very sparse guitar. Now, this is normally no big deal but both bands had a bit more oomph in the past that I feel is missing.
10/20/2008 2:56:14 PM
oh what up!?Au - Verbsit's fucking amazing. check it out, all of y'all.
10/28/2008 4:00:24 PM

free leech on waffles so i'm checking out some of these albums everybody has been talking about -- i wait until free leech to do this sort of thing because a) my ratio sucks balls and b) i usually hate what's hip in the music scene nowadays butthis fleet foxes is pretty sweet also, i'm enjoying the new metallica on my first listen
