How much is lasik going for now?I have an appointment at the end of the week at NC Eye and Ear to see if I'm eligible just yet (for the past 3 years I haven't been due to my astigmatism).Their price is $2195 per eye, and I thought that was pretty darn high considering I've heard people who've gotten it done for $1500 per eye, but I also haven't really looked around at prices, so I figured maybe some of you could shead some light on how much it may have cost you. Also, anyone else have lasik done with a cylinder (astigmatism) as high as -4.50 in both eyes?[Edited on September 23, 2008 at 12:27 PM. also, I looked up some info on the equipment they use and the machine can only treat up to -5.00 diopters, which makes me borderline - is it worth the risk??

you could have pm'd OmarBadu to bump the old one.he's pretty responsive and I bet it would have been done in the next few hours.

Damn I didn't know that was around the limit. I too want the surgery and have astigmatism. I'm past -5.00 though

well it depends on the machine from what I've seen, they use a VISX which is pretty high end - a lot of the machines only do 4.00, some only 3.00 (especially the PRK I think) - I'm just kind of worried and would rather hear from some people who have had it done at such a high cylinderI spoke with one of the technicians this week and she said since they purchased the VISX that I fit into the range (whereas I didn't before) and I should be eligible this time, so I'm pretty sure if I can get it done then I'm going to jump on it[Edited on September 23, 2008 at 1:57 PM. ive looked into it. i didnt get as far as prices, but i know my eyes can be done, and im -6.5 and -7.0. you're probably right about the variance in machines though.
