So.. never been to a wedding for someone I actually know. What should me and my "date" wear?
9/19/2008 10:24:43 PM
It usually says on wedding invitation.normally suit and tie though but you could get away with a nice shirt + tie and nice pants if you want.
9/19/2008 10:35:28 PM
and for her ..?
9/19/2008 10:36:04 PM
A dress.
9/19/2008 10:37:02 PM
well that narrows it down I'm sure
9/19/2008 10:39:18 PM
aim to look better then the bride and ruin her wedding
9/19/2008 10:41:57 PM
lol.. not an option
9/19/2008 11:08:44 PM
just got back from one.jsut wear a dress. like a colorful one.dont wear all white or all black.
9/19/2008 11:27:14 PM
what time is the wedding?the later the ceremony, the more formal it is.
9/19/2008 11:46:36 PM
specially the next few days.... twas a bit chilly tonight. so a jacket or whatever girls wear would be good enough
9/19/2008 11:47:53 PM
casual, not jeans though
9/20/2008 12:20:54 AM
nice shirt, tie, slacksthe girl should wear a nice skirt and blouse or dress--moderate(hits just above the knee, substantial straps if sleeveless), not too bright or flashy, not white
9/20/2008 1:43:06 AM
Don't wear a tie w/out a jacket.
9/20/2008 1:48:27 AM
Wear a fucking suit. Don't embarrass yourself. Tell your date to wear a cocktail dress or floral dress depending on evening vs. daytime.
9/20/2008 1:52:42 AM
It should say on the invitation.I would hope you're dating someone smart enough to figure out what to wear at a wedding I could see guys not knowing but I've never met a girl who didn't have an idea of what was acceptable wedding attire.

as said, depends on the time of the wedding and time of yearfor an afternoon wedding, suit for you and dress for her. a dress like she might would wear to church or similar function would probably be ok. some embellishment is fine. nothing too short, too low cut, or too flashy. something you would look at and describe as "classy". say no to sequins. attention should be on the bridal party, not the people dressed inappropriately in the audience. for an evening wedding, dark suit for you or tux (invite would usually tell you if you needed a tux). for her, a cocktail dress or formal pant or skirt suit with blouse. no "prom" dresses. again some embellishment is fine. nothing too short, too low cut, or too flashy. something you would look at and describe as "classy".

it's at 5:30... I'll let her know
9/20/2008 12:38:41 PM
seersuckerits totally appropriate right now
9/20/2008 12:42:46 PM
the wedding is in a month
9/20/2008 12:49:19 PM
suit/tie and you're in the clear
9/20/2008 12:54:30 PM
awesome. done and done.
9/20/2008 1:00:56 PM
9/21/2008 12:25:53 AM
hahahah she's a sharp girl indeed....
9/21/2008 12:34:49 AM
If it doesn't say, I think suit/tie is what's understood.A girl should wear whatever the girl equivalent of that is...
9/21/2008 12:44:42 AM
9/23/2008 9:00:21 PM
for 530 suit and tie is fine. cocktail dress is fine. do you know where the reception is? that can help, too.
9/23/2008 9:07:06 PM
i wonder what a wedding is like
9/23/2008 9:07:34 PM
9/23/2008 9:09:43 PM
^^ Depends on the wedding. Some of them are boring as hell. Others can be downright bizarre
9/23/2008 9:12:09 PM
That rule is a bit old fashioned. As long as the weather is appropriate, it's ok. However, it's starting to coo down, so .....?
9/23/2008 9:12:59 PM
no, its really not appropriate after august

If this wedding is in the South, no one will think twice about nice khakis (not cargos or wrinkly ripped crap) with a navy blazer and necktie or bowtie. That's the classic look of a Southern gentleman.
9/24/2008 11:09:53 AM
9/24/2008 11:12:27 AM
you should wear Halloween costumes
9/24/2008 11:17:18 AM
red riding hood & the wolf would be appropriate i think
9/24/2008 11:24:28 AM
9/24/2008 11:32:00 AM
i still think what i said still goes:
9/24/2008 6:37:47 PM
Don't be "that guy"....
9/24/2008 9:23:48 PM
a suit it is.
9/24/2008 9:26:06 PM
would you say this dress is suitable wedding attire? http://tinyurl.com/4qdq4xI would think ladies should avoid wearing black at a wedding (because in my mind that says "funeral"), but she says it was once frowned upon but is now oh-so-chic[Edited on September 28, 2008 at 5:43 AM. Reason : my cousin's wedding in december, btw]
9/28/2008 5:43:32 AM
that dress is adorable!!! I want!! I just went to a 430 wedding a few weekends ago....half the women were dressed in black dresses (myself included) or some dress of a dark fabric, the other half were in summery colored (either pastel or bold colors). Men were in either suits or slacks/button down with a tie and jacket.I personally preferred the more formal look as the reception ran into the evening, however during a very obvious daytime wedding, and, unless otherwise stated, I'd go for a more casual look (just not TOO casual).
9/28/2008 7:08:06 AM
^^Yes, the style is. Although, it's slightly on the short side for a wedding. [Edited on September 28, 2008 at 7:36 AM. Reason : .]
9/28/2008 7:11:25 AM
@ Bill : I am NOT wearing a red riding hood costume
9/28/2008 12:12:27 PM
