Except shitty treatment of employees, manufacturers, illegal labor practices, unreasonable policies...Yes, they are the supply chain gods, and distribute aid in disaster areas (and better than FEMA), but because of the aforementioned issues, I refuse to spend any money there. It's not the same. In order to comply with the pricing forced on them by walmart, and still turn a profit, many manufacturers make separate lines for wal-mart, of inferior quality. A cuisinart item that you buy at walmart will fail long before one bought at target. If it says 'made for walmart', that's how you know it's not 'the same shit'

I have a lot of friends who work at walmart who say they've never felt they've been treated any differently than at any other place of employment. I also have family who have worked for walmart for years and have never had any complaints, except that they wish there was more vacation time offered, but that's not what I would consider unfair treatment.

what illegal labor practices are you aware of? Like hiring illegals? That's something thousands of companies do. Unions? Hardly something that is considered better for employees. Name some unreasonable policies you know of?

And sorry but I don't believe there is a significant amount of companies that make inferior products to sell to walmart that they don't sell to other companies. I can rule out food right now, as that is illegal. Name brand products are also the same. I just bought a sony camera there, exact same model as sold in best buy, but $15 cheaper. Absolutely nothing different. Do you have proof of this? Is cuisinart really in on this or did you just say that 'as an example'. And how can you be sure that the product is truly inferior?

idk what products you were referring to but cuisinart items I don't believe are sold in walmart. I checked out a food processor by hamilton beach though and compared it to the same product from the makers website. It's the same model, same features. I don't believe there's a difference.

and also i'm not saying walmarts products are awesome, i'm just saying they arent' any different than the same product you would try to get at target or kmart or a similar store.


and i can't vouch for all their employees. Personally I wouldn't ever buy jewelry there and I wouldn't trust an employee there to change the battery in my watch, but that doesn't mean I can't purchase other things there.

Things I trust at walmart
1. Food
2. Most electronics (include dvds, video games, etc. guarantee that shit is 100% the same)
3. clothes. cheaper product, of course, but honestly everything i've gotten there I still have and fits just fine, no problems. Not counting shoes, but I don't buy shoes there
4. Household items like cleaner, detergent, TP, bathroom stuff, kitchen items, plastic stuff. Honestly, a spoon is a spoon and a cup is a cup.


For companies to have seperate product lines just for walmart could cost them more money, that means a different setup they have to have, different starting materials, different product assembly, different product labeling. All those changes cost money. Seems just kind of hard to believe, to me, unless they are selling the product to everyone.


but if you think about it, several companies have several lines. Sony has top of the line models, and they have low end models. It's not that walmart forces them to make a cheaper product, it's that walmart doesn't usually sell the high end models because they are looking for value, so they purchase the standard or lower end products like non-name brand TV's and DVD players. The companies make more money by producing more of them and selling them to walmart. That's the customers making it happen more than anything else. And all sony products, no matter what line you buy from, have the same product guarantees. Same for walmart, too.

but if it were the case that there's a special 'walmart' style product that is different and inferior and cheaper so that the company can make money, then why wouldn't the company just make all their products cheaper and sell those to everyone else? If people are buying them anyways, why the fuck would I make two similar products, they look the same, do the same shit, but one is cheaper, and I only sell that one to one company. I would sell the shitty one to Target, Kmart, wherever I could that would take it and just have an even larger profit margin.

Sorry but that idea is ridiculous, and if you do happen to find one or two products like that, they are probably something I would never buy anyways, and I can show you a thousand products that are exactly the same.

Unreasonable policies: again, I had one in mind when I made that post (it'd be very easy to find more with a quick google): schedules are set out of corporate. God help the manager who allows anyone to get overtime. Yes, let's a bean counting labor manager of sorts in Arkansas set the schedule for a Cary store, where they might have, at best, frequent, but short and uninformative contact with; at worst, very infrequent.

I did pull cuisinart out of my ass, simply as a 'brand X' type example (not because I'm actually saying they do this), because I was looking at a glass on my desk, and to me, kitchen stuff = cuisinart, and then kitchenaid

I got mine at Target for $11, and it was in a set that included the ball (one for shorties), a pump, a floor mat, a DVD and some kind of exercise chart thing. It was on clearance so they probably don't have the same set for that price now, but if you keep your eye open they're on sale a lot.

You should be able to get an exercise ball for less than $20. The expensive balls are either therapy balls (like you've seen at my house) or gym grade.
