Does anyone here rip and transcode DVDs? I used to use FlaskMPEG, but that hasn't been updated in ages (it's only single threaded). It takes about an hour to transcode a movie using h.264.Do any transcoding tools use multithreading?

From DVD format. I want to keep the 5.1 audio and transcode the video. The resulting audio+video is about 1.2GB and the quality is about the same as the original DVD.

Gordian knot is single threaded. I want to transcode a movie in 15 minutes instead of an hour.

good luck with that...let us know if you find something, because i'm not sure i've seen anything freeware (or for less than $vermont) that will do what you want

^ you just won this thread. 3:19 to transcode a 1 hour, 22 minute movie (around 500 fps) and the quality is astounding.
