Bev Perdue and the free community college? That's a vote grab. She probably knows with a degree of certainty that a bill like that would never be passed, maybe not even put forth for a vote. This issue isn't so much that college is expensive. A good education is obviously going to cost a sizable chunk of change. NC State could have cut-rate professors teaching kids to use abacuses. That would be cheap as hell, but wouldn't really solve the problem. The issue, as I understand liberals to see it, is that there isn't satisfactory aid to help cover, defray, or delay the cost for those that don't have the funds up front.
