^^ i was going to get that one, but Barnes & Noble didnt have it, so I got Ubik. Now that's a crazy novel there... so far, it's good.. and im down with everything except all the faggoty clothes everyone wears. what's the deal with that?you know what's REALLY weird though....out of ALL the books that Barnes & Noble carries... there's a tiny few that they hide behind the customer service desk.-- all of Philip K. Dick-- all of Chuck Pahluniak (sp?)-- all of Charles Bukowski-- all of the various Dungeons & Dragons game manuals-- a few other things.and that's it. That's what they hide. I couldn't find PKD on shelves, so i asked customer service and there it was in their area behind the desk. I wanted to browse through them because i couldnt remember exact titles, but the clerk insisted that i tell her the title name, and she'd get it for me. one at a time.I'm like "what the hell, are they gold plated?"she told me that these were the books that had a habit of continually being stolen.i mean, just these few, out of a bazillion freaking books they could possibly carry.I was like ... "Oh". you know, one of those events where you get annoyed/insulted but aren't sure what to do til after you've already left?I shoulda been like "Bitch, what? you think im gonna STEAL your books? you callin me a THIEF???"so next time im going to go in there and make her pull every single title and set them in front of me so i can touch each one and look and inspect it. and I'll take a gotdam half hour to do it, too.[Edited on September 8, 2008 at 5:20 PM. someone is stealing vonnegut books from somewhere and selling them to nice priceit's not quail ridge, so there's not much to be done
9/8/2008 6:30:24 PM
that's weird about the stolen books.... Chuck P. I can see getting stolen a lot. But Bukowski and PKD? That's an introspective bunch of thieves...

maybe its just Seattle. I don't know. people are weird here. even the homeless bums read books while drinking lattes.
