I used to really enjoy watching these shows...but lately it's gotten to be too consistently pro-democrat. Come on guys.
9/3/2008 8:10:59 PM
Daily Show must have lost some of their better writers because the funniest thing I've seen on the show in the past few months has been Brian Williams showing up for interviews... And yeah, they've been going very pro-democrat lately... every once in a while they take a half-hearted shot at Obama's hope-isms, but that's about it. Though they were pretty steadfastly anti-Hilary, which I can't say I have a problem with.Colbert Report was founded on him pretending to be a neo-con, and it's consistently been funny based on that. No need to change there.
9/3/2008 8:24:29 PM
^I know about Colbert...but still he seemed to attack Democrats in clever ways sometimes.
9/3/2008 8:32:16 PM
Yeah, Colbert seems much more 'balanced' in that respect. And I have noticed how the Daily Show has had a definite lean lately. Not sure what exactly to attribute it too. One argument a long time ago was "well, Republicans are on top right now and therefore there is a lot more to make fun of."
9/3/2008 8:38:09 PM
I think it has more to do with the republican party being fucked 10 ways till sunday more so than any particular political leaning.
9/3/2008 8:39:45 PM
And that could be true too.
9/3/2008 8:40:30 PM
colbert is definitely better.
9/3/2008 8:46:37 PM
Both shows are great at making fun of the republican party because they give them so much material to work with
9/3/2008 8:46:46 PM
zing
9/3/2008 8:56:44 PM
they do make fun of both parties whenever possible. however, it's never exactly been a secret that Jon Stewart, the correspondents, and likely the writers, are all extremely liberal. Therefore, I don't know why they should try to be "fair and balanced". They're a comedy fake-news show - not an impartial, balanced observer, nor have they ever claimed to be. The recent swing even further to the left, I see as Jon Stewart taking control and simply saying "i think what's going on in the country now is fucked up, and i'm going to do my part to expose it and sway people's position". And that's his right - it's his show.
9/3/2008 9:22:03 PM
Not to say that Stewart and Colbert don't lean left to begin with, but come on, the Republicans have been providing them with a real wealth of material these past few days.

the Daily Show seems pro-Democrat?No...Really?you're joking?I mean, that show, under John Stewart, has never seen a Democratic President. If that happens...then where's the funnay supposed to come from?
9/4/2008 1:30:13 AM
i like how Colbert always addresses the audience/cameras with "Nation..."
9/4/2008 1:33:33 AM
9/4/2008 1:37:54 AM
I never knew Matt Damon was such a Michael Winslow
9/4/2008 1:43:35 AM
Colbert is infinitely better. He's of course making fun of neo-cons, but he often addresses valid criticisms of democratic policies and issues, he just does it in an over the top conservative manner.

9/4/2008 1:51:09 AM
I agree that Colbert is grating. I'm not a big fan.I love Stewart and the Show. Last night's episode deserves an award. Best one I've seen in a while.

I'll admit their bias, but they're not a "real" news show anyways, so what the fuck does it matter? This is from last night, really entertaining side by side of the Republicans view of the issues surrounding Sarah Palin before and after she was announced as McCain's running mate...http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=184086&title=sarah-palin-gender-card

I watched the Laura D'Andrea Tyson interview and he let her get away with murder...most times he plays the overzealous conservative and interupts, but he just let her babble away. Shit was weak.

I think the problem is you're assuming that when someone says that this country has problems, that it means they personally have problems.I can say that there are things this country could probably do better, that as a whole this country isn't perfect. Does it make my life hell? No, I'm pretty satisfied with my life, but that doesn't mean things couldn't be better.its just people being melodramatic with their words, yourself included.[Edited on September 4, 2008 at 11:37 AM. Tree, you're fooling yourself if you don't think the erosion of civil rights and personal liberties, the surge in theocratic-type thinking, and the increasing outwardly aggression of this country won't effect you at some point in the future, much less future generations
