Hi, I was introduced to this site by someone suggesting it as a good place to buy used books. When I realized it had an automotive section though I decided I'd introduce myself there since I'll probably spend most of my time here =)I'm Marco and I'm a freshman studying Mechanical Engineering. I'm staying in Metcalfe hall this year and drive a 89 Supra that I've restored and modified some. I'll be going back down to Charlotte to drive it up here this weekend. If anyone is into cars and wants to hang out and talk some I seem to (luckily) have a lot of spare time between classes so just let me know. This is pretty much what it looks like right now (sorry about the crappy picturs)http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2603771

oh sorry... hello
8/28/2008 11:26:29 PM
No, I meant the guy who said "it begins." Sounds negative... But hi =)
8/28/2008 11:32:37 PM

8/28/2008 11:38:26 PM

i just did a taco hell fart and now my office stinks [Edited on August 29, 2008 at 8:36 AM. Reason : btw, you should have at lest a few dozen posts before you make a thread, these niggers are brutal]
8/29/2008 8:36:10 AM
This is t-dub, it's serious shit buddy. I learned real quick to watch what you post because these d00ds love to pull that shit up later and use it against you, or twist anything you have to say against you like you might be wrong just to see if you are either a pushover or if you really know your shit. I'll probably get flamed for this shit now since I gave away our secret... People here like to troll for the hell of it... Anyways, Hello, welcome, salutations Nice Ride. Post more pics. If you see an ol' beatup and loud red 944 being obnoxious around campus, hollar.
8/29/2008 8:44:20 AM
Hmm. Thanks for the warning. A friend and I just rebuilt the engine of a 944 this summer! They're amazingly good looking cars. Why do you need a dozen posts before posting a thread? How does anyone introduce themself without making a topic...?
8/29/2008 9:07:08 AM
well he's just saying.we're a pretty tight knit community. we know who is legit and who isnt, in regards to knowing what they're talking about and what they've done. im not trying to say we are the top sh*t.. but the last thing we like is for some newcomer to come in here hoarding a whole buncha crap about nothing. im not saying you're one of them.but just be careful.either way. seems like you arent half bad. your first post wasnt about how you're putting a quad turbo supra motor into your car and it will be done by Sept. of this year
8/29/2008 9:10:32 AM
hi marco. welcome to the automotive trash-talking community at NCSU! j/k. I wont give you any shit, unlike some members here). Nice ride. Looks like you've put some time into it. If i see you driving around i'll make sure to waive.

8/29/2008 10:10:11 AM
OH I see now haha. Don't worry, I don't spew a bunch of BS and pretend to know what I'm talking about if I don't. Do you get the "I'm going to drop a twin turbo LS1 into my geo metro" type people a lot here? I actually like reading those types of threads.
8/29/2008 10:59:54 AM
^ I'll admit it. I was one of those "I'm going to drop an LS1 into my 944 in blah blah blah" Yeah. It woulda worked except I didn't factor in a few factors (one was either work on my car or commit to my g/f, who is now my wife). But hey, I still got a v8 in the car in the end... Only half fail right guys? [Edited on August 29, 2008 at 11:08 AM. Reason : ]

Is the cardboard on the driveway for oil leaks?
8/29/2008 11:08:33 AM
^OBVIOUSLY YOU AREN'T A DRIVEWAY MECHANIC cardboard=gold when working under a vehicle in a driveway... fucka a creeper (or adam8778's broken one hahahaha)
8/29/2008 11:15:11 AM
^^haha, no. I took it to Ryan at RPM and he said it was a clean engine (not literally, it's dirty as hell and needs to be detailed ) He was impressed how solid everything was. All it needs is a new opti-spark and it's good to go Nothing leaks, which is a damn nice feeling for a change.my bad, I thought you were referring to me... [Edited on August 29, 2008 at 11:28 AM. Reason : fail ]
8/29/2008 11:15:18 AM
Haha yeah, the cardboard makes working under the car 10x easier. I think that picture was right after I started the engine up after dropping it in so I didn't bother to clean everything up. Shmorri, what engine did you end up putting in your 944? We almost went the V8 route but my friend ended up buying another car and decided to sell the 944 and the return on engine swaps isn't very good when selling. I've never come across a V8 944 in person before. I bet it's crazy fast!

I'm a plywood on gravel kinda guy, at least in high school.Ain't got none of them paved roads in Mooresville.

^^^ haha, I went with an LT1, and yeah, the swap KILLS the cars value. A 968 (the best platform to swap) in great shape can easily bring in ~$17k. I've seen several sell for ~$13-15k AFTER an LS1 swap. I guess it's because it's no longer a "purists" car, and any serious mods like that come with a risk of possible mistakes/failures somewhere. I didn't realize there were several 968 swaps f/s until after I started my conversion, otherwise I woulda just gone that route. It's a fun car, 295rwhp/325ft-lb in a ~3000lb car Not worth it if you don't plan on keeping the car for a very long time since you'll lose what you put into it.[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 11:41 AM. I still stuck with the 7M instead of going 2JZ, but with the amount of stuff missing with my "complete swap" I could have gone 2JZ with only a bit more work and about $1000 more =( Classic picture BTW =D When I get back from class I'll dig you guys up a great noob thread, it's a legend on Supra forums now. Thing is, this guy is crazy enough to have done half of what he said he'd do.
