So I have a neighbor a few doors down that bitches at me whenever I take my dog for a walk and he (my dog) decides to pee in their yard. First, I never let my dog more than 3-4 feet into their yard. Second, I never let my dog pee in/on bushes or plants, only grass or lightpoles (not surrounded with plants). Finally, my dog never shits in their yard (he prefers the other side of the street for that sort of thing), not to mention when he does shit in other's yards I always pick it up.Should I:ignore herbitch her out for being a shitty neighborstop letting my dog pee in their yard

Who cares. It's pee. Not like your dog is shitting in her yard.
8/21/2008 9:48:31 PM
the polite thing to do would be to stay out of her yard if she asks you to...besides if the dog pisses there enough, it'll start to kill the grass[Edited on August 21, 2008 at 9:49 PM. Reason : ^it's her yard, she cares--that's enough]

if you're walking the dog and it's on a leash then handle it and quit being a shithead if she doesn't want your dog to piss in her yard - personally if it's killing the grass then i'd be pissed - otherwise who cares

^ fuck you. two people in this thread already agree with me. this is not a cut and dry situation and so your completely irrational response is ridiculous.this is a small dog with probably less than a half cup of urine per "trip" and so the likelihood of him causing problems with the yard is quite low. I guess my bigger issue with the situation is neighborlyness. Sure if I, or others in the neighborhood were leaving shit unpicked up, I could see being pissed about it. Shit doesn't disappear in an hour. However, I even go out of my way to take along an extra bag each time to pick up any shit from other dogs that someone carelessly left. I guess I feel that being a good neighbor means not getting bitchy when another neighbor has a dog that uses your yard.
8/21/2008 10:35:03 PM
It is her yard and even if the dog only let's out 1/2 a cup of pee each trip, it can become a problem overtime with her grass.

god damnwhat dont you understand about property rights?just because you have a ~ toy dog that pisses in eyedrop amounts doesnt mean that you can still let your ~ dog piss on someone's lawn

I understand your neighbor - I do not have a dog for a reason, and it isn't to have brown spots in my grass from my neighbors muts. Big pet peeve of mine.Forgive me for being rude, you may now release PETA on me.

Just don't let your dog pee in that persons yard. I imagine they are worried about it killing grass. This doesn't have to be a big deal.
8/22/2008 9:02:51 AM
dog urine will kill grass. It's mostly nitrogen, so it has the same effect as over-fertilization, basically you'll have a circle of dead grass surrounded by a ring of really lush grass. it's a pain in the ass, and you should not allow your dog to piss on their grass. Your neighbor is completely in the right.
8/22/2008 9:04:33 AM
don't allow your dog to pee in her yardwe have a 5x10 plot of yard and 2x3 plot of grass on that yard b/c of my dog's pee
8/22/2008 9:29:25 AM
Down a 12 pack and then go personally piss on her front door.
8/22/2008 9:56:12 AM
my neighbor has a dog and she use to pick up after he would drop a load...now she just kinda lets it dooky and doesnt give a fuck...in the lease it says you can get kicked out for not picking up after your pet....i'm thinking of writing an anonymous letter to the apt if things dont change...
8/22/2008 9:58:16 AM
stop letting my dog pee in their yardHonestly, her asking you one time to stop should have been enough.
8/22/2008 10:29:30 AM
Don't let the dog pee in her yard.Holy crap people are dense. I taught my dog to only pee and poop in landscaped areas so killing the grass was never a problem. Next time I'm gonna put pea gravel in a corner of the yard and just make them use that. Easy to clean up and no dead grass.
8/22/2008 11:02:25 AM
Don't let your dog piss on someone elses lawn, people put alot of time and effort into them. Have a little respect for your neighbors and make sure it pisses in your yard before you start walking then. Problem solved.

I agree, don't let your dog pee in her yard. However, it does make for an interesting point. If you're taking your dog out for a walk in the neighborhood, where is the dog going to pee?
8/22/2008 12:20:41 PM
be considerate. don't go near their yard. let the dog piss in someone else's yard, someone who doesn't care.
8/22/2008 12:40:43 PM
If one piss really killed the grass there would be none around any of the mailboxes on Kaplan.
8/22/2008 1:18:50 PM
Well, the peeing in the right of way/ditch in front of a house is not a big deal. It's when the dog is on a flexi lead and pees in the middle of the yard that really annoys me, or even worse the dogs that are allowed to run free. A couple feet of messed up grass right by the sidewalk or street is pretty much to be expected, but the people that let the dog let loose in the middle of the yard are the evil ones.If I take the time to train my dog to pee in certain areas only the last thing I want is someone else's animal doing their business in my yard. It was so funny, my dog was so good about using the right spots we'd have to bring a couple of bags of pine bark to the boarding kennel for her to poop on, and when she saw another dog using the grass she'd give 'em a WTF look.

If I were your neighbor, I'd probably come by your lawn and relieve myself. That, or drop kick the dog next time it comes in the yard.I had a former neighbor that had a dog that pissed in my yard. Lots of yellow dead grass in the back yard. Then, I didnt care so much because my yard wasnt great. But as I just spent $4000 on an irrigation system, and will spend another $1000+ on resodding and seeding, I would probably threaten to kill the dog if he was still here. why did you spend that much on grass rather than drought resistant landscaping? you people make my head hurt. if I observed someone letting their dog take a crap in my yard and they didn`t pick it up, I`d be inclined to pick it up (in a bag) and fling it at them and say `hey, you dropped this.`if the OP goes in someone`s yard or lets their pet go there when they are not invited, they are tresspassing. the OP sounds like a self-entitled brat who never grew up. it sounds like you have a yard and a house for your pet to use as it`s toilet. if your pet won`t use it and your neighbors don`t want to indulge your animal, that`s tough shit for you, and if the lady in question is as adamant as you suggest, you`re going to find this out the hard way.

Green. I could care less about a Drought resistant landscape. I'll water when we have water, and won't when we don't. It's that simple. We have to use fescue in the neighborhood, and that won't change anytime soon. [Edited on August 24, 2008 at 1:43 PM. Reason : m][Edited on August 24, 2008 at 1:44 PM. there is nothing "unneighborly" about not wanting someone to fuck your yard. in fact, the only person being unneighborly in this situation is you for not respecting your neighbor's request to keep your dog off their grass.[Edited on August 24, 2008 at 5:50 PM. Reason : a]

The new management company for my neighborhood has 'stepped' up their enforcement. I've been reading the minutes lately. They are sending out violation notices for anyone that has any sign in their yard other than for sale (No 'House painted by X' or 'Renovations done by X'). I got a notice because my trashcan was visable from the front street.I had to clear it with them to remove a big tree in my front yard. I am waiting for some notice that my sidewalk needs to be repaired after the city dug it up to run my new meter (the city is finally fixing it next week).Im going to ride by that house in the next day or so and check it out in person. One thing I dont get... There is a guy in the neighborhood that has bermuda. The grass is PERFECT. Like a golf course perfect, and putting green short. I was surprised to see it walking, and that was a big no no. But he has it divided at his property edge so that it doesnt spread to his neighbors yards. Im surprised he hasnt been told to rip it all up.There was a lady that just had her house painted, but the change wasnt approved, and the association didnt like it. She had to repaint it, but for some reason, the board voted to pay for her repaint...[Edited on August 24, 2008 at 6:18 PM. Reason : .]
