What is wrong with using Robert Englund? He's really not that old and he still plays Freddie every now and then for promotions and stuff.

I guess his point is that it would be better to have some unknown actor so you weren't distracted by all the baggage that an established actor carries with them. You wouldn't think "Hey, it's Freddy" you'd think "Hey, there's Billy Bob".E.g. "SAY CANDYMAN AGAIN! SAY CANDYMAN AGAIN! I DARE YOU, I DOUBLE-DARE YOU"

Samuel Bayer will direct from Wesley Strick's script, with lensing set to begin next month in Chicago.New Line decided last year to relaunch the movie series centered on the iconic killer, who haunts the dreams of teenagers and kills them in their sleep. Krueger was played by Robert Englund in the 1984 original, spawning nine films and two TV series in what was New Line's most lucrative franchise until "The Lord of the Rings." http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2009/04/jackie_earle_haley_officially.php

Is it bad that when he ripped off the coat to expose the striped shirt, instead of Freddy, the first thing I thought of was:Where's Waldo: The Movie"WE FOUND HIM!! "
