A guy I work with is currently in the hospital and he has a 4 year old boxer dog, but has no where to put her. He doesn't have any family or anything in the area, but obviously isn't able to take care of her as he is sick and recovery may take a little while (probably a few weeks). Does anyone know of somewhere that would take her temporarily? Is there a place that would take in a dog for a few weeks, possibly longer, and then give her back to him when he's healthy? She's up to date on shots and fixed and everything, but he doesn't have the money to board her for that long. Anyone know of any other options?[Edited on August 13, 2008 at 9:29 PM. Reason : ;]

contact the SPCA, they have lots of volenteers who do just thatalso go to petsmart, they have a list of all the local resues printed out (or at least the one in cary does) and if there is a good chance that the guy will want his pet back after his illness he might be more likey to find a foster homealso contact the local boxer rescue. [Google search]

I've emailed a ton of rescue groups and they all say they can't do it and all they know is to board the dog. Does anyone work for/ know of a vet that might do this for a huge discount or anything possibly?
