i dont think this guy gets itthe BAND will be playing this song not over the PA.but nonetheless thank god for no rick roll
8/12/2008 5:04:10 PM
our band SHOULD play the Astley song AT OTHER TEAM'S STADIUMS between the 3rd and 4th
8/12/2008 5:06:19 PM
totally agree with thatwhere are those band kids that frequent TWW
8/12/2008 5:08:24 PM
ahahaha that would be hilarious. our band needs to rick roll the other team at every away gamehahaha.
8/12/2008 5:23:22 PM
the only "rolling" that'll go on at football games is the nc state roll. that's where another team is expecting a decent football game, only to get pick6's w/o any sort of effort.
8/12/2008 5:25:01 PM
^ouch
8/12/2008 5:56:47 PM
That blog sucks.
8/12/2008 5:57:29 PM
ahahahahaha rick rolling the other team would be classic as hell
8/13/2008 1:43:07 PM
That might be the funniest idea ever to come out of TWW.howeverI don't think most football fans would get it.. i don't think the geek factor is as prevalent at most of the schools we play.
8/13/2008 2:02:23 PM
Yeah, like 1/3 would think it's funny, 1/3 would be like "oh i remember this song" and 1/3 would be like "what the hell are they playing?"
8/13/2008 2:05:12 PM
I don't know. I think most of the students and young alums at the opposing schools would get it. The Rick Roll is an internet/youtube phenomenon and has been talked about on tv channels like VH1.
8/13/2008 2:06:36 PM
That's still a very small portion of the attendance at a given football game, even assuming that every student would get it.
8/13/2008 2:28:16 PM
play it at halftime and have a rick astley go out on the field and do the dance.

Wisconsin plays House of Pain's Jump Around. It is played over the PA.Ohio State on the other hand has their marching band routinely play Hang On Sloopy which is the official rock and roll song of Ohio (no I'm not joking it really is legislated by the state's government as the official rock and roll song of the state). They played it a number of times when they visited us in 2004.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF05qTtd1kQ&feature=related
8/13/2008 3:28:17 PM
I too was under the impression this was to be played over the PA system, not by the band
8/13/2008 3:42:44 PM
8/13/2008 3:47:58 PM
we might as well just start it early and play "I've seen better days" There is a 75% chance it will be played after the game anyways

I don't care what any of you people say. This is fine journalism.

^^Pretty much sums up every competent person's feeling on this whole "manufactured tradition" crap. Everyone should send that to the marketing department pronto. This whole idea is absolutely retarded. Just play apache or hey baby (songs that already get a good response) and be done with the damn thing.[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 5:31 PM. Reason : ]

Enter Sandman would work too
8/21/2008 3:19:32 AM
But then we'd be Virginia Tech wannabes.
8/21/2008 9:29:10 AM
this could be the worst idea yet...I thought traditions were born not manufactured.Isn't enough that we have that stupid new wolf statute for the players to rub as they run out of a plastic cave?jeebus
8/21/2008 9:46:11 AM
just skew the heck out of that poll till tom petty isn't winning please
8/22/2008 3:57:00 PM

Okay, I've looked over my collection of frat rock. I picked that genre because it appeals to folks of all ages. It is also upbeat like whoa. Here's my nomination:One of you band nerds need to pass "Farmer John" along.Cause my opinion should matter.
8/25/2008 2:42:09 PM
Who in the hell keeps voting for Tom Petty? seriously.
