you mean the actual touchpad or the cursor?if the latter, drop the sensitivity a bit

^like he said. if its an old laptop, it's possible you are nearing the end of the life of the trackpad. They are cheap to replace, 10-15 bucks on ebay.

I have no idea how a person could survive without a trackpoint between the g and h keys (I think IBM invented it??) Dells and such that only have the touchpad are effectively unusable to me. Is there some advantage I simply haven't noticed that makes it better than a trackpoint?
