Lets see what ya'll garage heads know. 50 mutiple choice questions.http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/quizzes/MechanicalAptitude.phpI do have a problem with at least one question (multiple right answers). But I passed with an 88% anyway. [Edited on August 8, 2008 at 11:15 AM. Reason : gg]

i got a 96, i didnt read the balloon question right, and the fan one is just bullshit
8/8/2008 11:35:11 AM
92agreed the fan question was bullshit... I assume "opposite direction" is opposite from operational direction, but they do not specify.

wow i feel dumb. only an 86%. but im not a mechanical engineer so whatever
8/8/2008 12:45:29 PM
too many Q's.. i did like 12, missed 1 (very first one, lol, i went back and was like... i know i put the right answer).
8/8/2008 1:00:04 PM
88%But i realized I missed a couple after I clicked submit :-(

98... fan question i assume.
8/8/2008 1:56:36 PM
yay, a 90

88

82 but i knew i screwed up ona few and then realized i coudnt go back.

86I think I messed up a couple of the more automotive specific questions, I'm sure I nailed all of the physics/visual logic questions. Meh.

i got an 88, i didn't look to see which ones i missed. i know i missed the first battery question, but couldn't go back and change it.
8/8/2008 6:49:58 PM
you can see which ones you missed.. its one of the tabs on the bottom of the test i think

the fan question is ok if you assume "opposite" equals "opposite from operational"the bullshit one is the one about why air enters a cylinder during the intake stroke (suction from the piston pulling it in, or atmospheric pressure pushing it in...what the hell?)[Edited on August 8, 2008 at 8:29 PM. ^yeah, i was like wut?

86. fun quiz. I miss this kinda stuff. Loved the pulley qs... man, Law school blows.I'll only claim that 4 pts/2qs were due to bs:-fan q is bs-"suction" is layperson for "experiencing a relative vacuum/lowER pressure environment, so the cylinder q was kinda bs, but I guess if your physics teacher asked you that question, they'd prefer that answer, so ok.the remaining 10/5 were me just being an idiot-I didn't bother to count the numbers of teeth on any of the gear q's, I just assumed it was 4:1. Looks like it was only 2:1 in each case. so.... I'm dumb... (3 qs)-and I missed the worm gear q... durrrr. oh, and the first one... (2)

ok, i re-entered all my answers so i could see what i missed...i missed the fan question, which i think is poorly worded (i put opposite direction, meaning opposite from operational, but that's not what they meant).i also missed the venturi question. brain fart on my part...i knew the slower flow would be at higher pressure for a compressible fluid, but i couldn't remember about an incompressible fluid. i had a feeling it was the same, but i answered "tube B", anyway...and got it wrong.at any rate, i got a 96, so i guess that's ok. i don't even count the fan question--i understood what they were getting at, and just got tangled up in their sloppy semantics. I shouldn't have missed the venturi question, although i guessed on the block & tackle question, so I guess it evens out.

88, wish there was a 'back' button but oh well.

90% not that great

74% was trying to go quickly, lunch break and all. probably lost my ass on the pulley section

I'm actually coming up with an aptitude test for our machinist and millwright applicants
