This dog has been running around Dominion Walnut Ridge for the last couple of weeks and I finally got him. He's kinda skinny, but very sweet and quiet. He isn't fixed, had no collar or tags, doesn't seem to know any tricks and has issues walking on a leash, so I don't know if he belonged to someone.Has anyone lost a dog? ]

so cute!
7/28/2008 11:42:24 PM
I think it has some Beagle in it.
7/28/2008 11:46:22 PM
Please bring him somewhere to check to see if he has a microchip tag! They are about the size of a grain of rice, and are placed under the skin around the neck region. I know because my boxer has one.

That is my plan for today Where do you all suggest?]
7/29/2008 8:11:35 AM
^ Some vets will have a microchip reader, and I doubt if you go to SPCA or the animal shelter that they'll make you surrender him. Just give a few calls to vets around you if the SPCA or shelter isn't close, then work your way out.
7/29/2008 9:59:08 AM
Any vet or shelter.Check out: http://lnweb02.co.wake.nc.us/animal/animalcontrol.nsf/lost?openviewAlot of people report a lost pet to animal control first. See if any of those listings match.--I'm pretty sure every vet and shelter have microchip readers. The Petsmart Banfield clinics will read it for free. With the shelters and SPCA so full, they only claim the dog if it is violent, or if you are mistreating him.[Edited on July 29, 2008 at 10:19 AM. Reason : --]

^thank you!I posted on craigslist but it was flagged down within the first hour and I am putting up fliers around my apartment complex and assorted other places. He and I are going to Pet Smart later to see about the microchip and everything else I'd like to get him fixed because I don't want more homeless puppies running around.
7/29/2008 10:25:50 AM
aw, miska, that is a cute puppy. lemme know if you dont find a home.

people on craigslist have no life flagging down good posts
7/29/2008 12:08:13 PM
that is one of the few dogs on here I've seen that look like the making of a great pet.Wish I had room...
7/29/2008 12:24:53 PM
absolutely adorable
7/29/2008 12:47:35 PM
oh man, cuz my girl could so use a pal...he's got such a sweet face. honestly, he looks awful similar to a pup that was on an adoption site within the last month. I can't remember which one though, could have been spca, could have been something else.
7/29/2008 1:59:24 PM
I found a couple dogs similar to him, but not him.He doesn't have a microchip and no one around my complex or other complexes on gorman have reported him missing.

His owner called and was a dick about how it's his right to let his dog run around the neighborhood if he wanted to /end thread

er... without a collar/tags? irresponsible pet owners peeve me.[Edited on July 29, 2008 at 4:08 PM. Reason : 2k post yo]
7/29/2008 4:08:12 PM
^^ actually there is a leash law... He doesn't have that right
7/29/2008 4:38:13 PM
^ Yep. I wouldn't take any crap from him. If he gives you grief just tell him that you'll drop the dog off at an adoption center next time and end the conversation.[Edited on July 29, 2008 at 4:55 PM. Reason : l]
7/29/2008 4:50:40 PM
^That's about what happened.I have the feeling he's going to complain to the owners of the apartment complex but this is something I'm really angry over, so we'll see where this goes Luckily he doesn't know where I live!
7/29/2008 5:12:28 PM
I'd just keep him next time or give him to someone who will take care of him. Its not his "RIGHT" to let his dog run around who isn't fixed and has no collar or tags in Raleigh city limits.
7/29/2008 5:31:35 PM
is this not a legal issue? maybe you can take it up with some agency?
7/29/2008 5:34:46 PM
fuck that, put that cocksuckers info up in Chitchat and watch hilarity ensue

^^ lolz.
7/29/2008 8:23:57 PM
running around without a rabies tag is a very big no-no
7/29/2008 8:46:27 PM
If you go to SPCA or Animal Control, they will only fine the owner. They will be pretty damn hefty fines though.
7/29/2008 8:56:37 PM
The owner is a douche bag. I told him he could get his dog back if he'd meet me with a collar and a nametag with his phone number or address on it, and the dude refused. He told me that the dog ran away a lot anyways and that I could have him so that was kind of that.
7/29/2008 10:07:20 PM
Are you really keeping this dog? I see you have a lot of takers, but I would take him off your hands in about 2.5 seconds if you need...
7/29/2008 10:33:00 PM
He's going to someone else who posted in the thread. I don't have a yard and my roommate is pretty inattentive so giving him to someone with more space, another dog and things like that is the smartest choice, though I am really torn up about it.
7/29/2008 10:41:14 PM
its the best thing for the dog, you should be
7/30/2008 1:57:55 AM
As long as the original owner can claim ownership of the dog, as in registered with the county, shelter or vet, acknowledgement of the seller that he is the owner, etc, it is a crime for you to not give the man his dog. Not providing a dog with a rabies tag or collar providing identification is not abuse. He can be fined by the city, but that is all. It is still his dog. And.. getting a dog "fixed" is not a legal requirement, if the dog still has his balls, that is fine. There are legal issues with getting a dog neutered if you are not the owner. Giving away a dog that you found, to someone else, although the owner has already claimed it, is a criminal charge. If you feel this dog's safety/wellbeing is an issue, the only thing you can do is consult the city/spca. They will not tell you to give the dog away, unless it is to a foster home of their choosing.
7/30/2008 4:46:11 AM
^The owner already told her to keep it
7/30/2008 5:58:10 AM
the owner obviously doesn't care about his dog, but lickher is right. And even if the owner said she could keep the dog, he could still be an asshole and turn her in for theft.
7/30/2008 8:21:50 AM
I'd bet money he doesn't have the dog registered, no vet visists etc. nothing that can prove ownershiphell, i wouldn't be surprised if it was some jackass from here trolling IRL[Edited on July 30, 2008 at 12:08 PM. Reason : .]
7/30/2008 12:07:54 PM
sounds like the owner has no business taking care of a dog, just based on his own responses.
