All depends...

Are you planning on riding or walking? and do you mind the afternoon heat? Plenty of places offer a good twilight rate during the afternoon.

I think I walked Falls Village for like $19 in the afternoon back in May.
Eagle Ridge is $30 as a student during the week to ride and you get the GPS.
If you know someone in Chapel Hill, get their ID and go walk Finley in the afternoon for around 20.(if you can stand the UNC crap all over the place)

^ I heard that eagle ridge did away with the gps because they were getting stolen. I personally like Crooked Creek down off of johnson pond near fuquay. I like river ridge out in clayton too.

One of the best deals is The Preserve @ Jordan Lake. It is about a 30 minute drive out 64, but it is a great course for like 28 @ 4. That is probably one of my favorite courses personally.

The Neuse was a good deal, like $25 after 2 or something. Great challenge but they let the greens grow out so they don't get burnt. So they are decently slow.

What is the best value for golf in Raleigh as far as being a member?

Initiation fees and membership dues, yada yada. I have googled it but you have to email the people to get the membership info so I want to get some good leads first.

Raleigh CC is a great course if you have the money. If you are a member there, you have playing privledges at the Cardinal in greensboro, Treyburn (i think in the sandhills), and one other course that McConnell golf owns. As of last year the initiation at The Cardinal was around 11,000, and I think the other McConnel golf courses are similar.

RCC is a great, old style layout (Donald Ross design). I've played there probably 5 times and every time the greens are GREAT. Its probably about 6,900 from the tips so its not too long but the course is cut through the pine trees. Its a lot of fun.

I will mention that its been about 4 years since I last played there, but I doubt it changed at all.

Seconded. There used to be a cranky old worker out there who would ride his golf cart around and yell at people for no reason. I got used to it, but one day the guy went to far. Can't remember now what he said/did, but it pissed me off royally. I went and complained to the manager, and he ended up giving me a yearlong free pass up there. Best of all, the old dude quit bitching.
