not very knowledgable about cars and all that technical stuff. but thought that i would try and get some information from some of you gurus here. here's the deal. i drive a 98 grand marquis and recently it seems to have gone on a gas guzzling binge. i dont know what the problem is (other than high gas prices) but i think that it may need a tune up or something. i have no clue. but what are some of the things that i need to look for for starters? thank you so much for any useful information ladies and gents....or gents and ladiesps im sure that it doesnt have a gas leak or anything.

maybe someone has found a new gas source using their suck-tube siphoning skills? When was the last time you changed the basics plugs/filters/wires/tire pressures?

I'd say try things in this order:1. Tire pressure (if it's way low, you may see an improvement right away if you inflate to proper pressure)2. Air filter (when was the last time you changed that? Also, easy to do yourself)3. Fuel filter (can do yourself on most cars, some harder than others though)4. Plugs/wires if you know they've been on there a long time (see above)5. If still no improvement, take it to a shop. Could be O2 sensor, clogged cats, a range of things you probably won't be able to/want to do if you're not into DIY auto work
