How about 1595lbs, and pushing somewhere upwards of 400hp off the 2ZZ?The CF roof weighs 3.5 pounds Running a twin-screw supercharger setup, custom widebody front and rear, all kinds of cool shite on it. And the best part is, other than the bodywork, it's items that are reversible back to stock (definitely not "bolt-ons" though in any sense of the word)

7/21/2008 4:19:12 PM
Its for SCCA Solo "Prepared X" is his class i believe. The hilarious part is he has to ballast the car back up to 1800lbs, so there's tons of lead weights and ammo canisters in the car. It's corner balanced to like 6 ounces for 25/25/25/25 weight distribution.Apparently based on the loong ass thread on the car, BWR only has about 70k into the car, which is absurdly cheap. It apparently demolishes everything around it on the track.

Damn. I wish I had the time/resources to do something like this to my 944. This is one bad mofo. MANY props to him on sticking with this.

^He could have gotten a one for a steal a couple of months ago2006 ForcedFed 275 Exige - $43,500A car with 275rwhp on a turbo capable of 300+, that has been shop tuned and hand tweaked.
7/22/2008 1:45:15 PM
too bad it's heinous
7/22/2008 4:38:39 PM
While 3.5 pounds is pretty impressive for a "roof", that isn't a roof in any real sense of the word. More like a thin semi-rigid dust cap.
7/22/2008 4:39:12 PM
7/22/2008 4:50:17 PM
^^Having a hard top roof actually adds a LOT of rigidity to the car. If it weren't structural, it would crack almost immediately from the flex stress of the chassis, so yea it's kind of impressive (to me)

good read. a few comments/questions:- if i'm understanding right, this is actually a build that's a couple years old, he's just now getting around to detailing it as he makes some revisions?- when you say 400+hp, i assume you're talking about crank numbers from the turbo setup since it was at 370rwhp? he indicated the twin screw would be a sacrifice in peak numbers in return for better throttle response and power under the curve. did i miss the new rwhp numbers? i saw where he tried to dyno it but the fuel pump took a crap (probably a result of the drastically reduced volume of the tank). i'd just be curious to know how much of a hit he took on the peak numbers vs. any +/- in actual performance around a track.- i love the raw fabricated look of everything. it's an all business vehicle. nothing really radical or fancy, just quality stuff that works.- lol at the little baby air-air intercooler on the turbo setup.- very cool that the fenders/flares actually saved weight over stock.- sucks that he has to add that much weight to it, i'll bet it really screams without it. nice that he can use it to dial the corner weights in though, and it may even offset the downside of the increase depending on what the biases are at the dry weight? i'm not familiar with the rules for that class, but one comment he made sounded like he's penalized to a certain race weight due to retaining advantageous things like abs, etc.?- all the quick release stuff is trick. looks like he can have it stripped to the point of exposing all the major mechanical components within minutes.- even though it's probably one of the simplest mods on the whole car, i really dig the door locks as latches conversion. it's the little details that set a car apart and make it original.[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 9:02 PM. I guess we should go to http://www.blackwatchracing.com
7/22/2008 9:39:34 PM
^^ Completely agree. You know, I've only heard one other guy say that something is really "trick." it makes me lol but is cool. I thought those same things as I read the ~4 page thread.
7/22/2008 10:11:40 PM
damn....
7/22/2008 11:08:32 PM
^^^^ No one really knows what power its putting down, the original SC was a 1.2L, he's running a ginormous 1.6 now. The beautiful thing about most of these performance lotus shops is they aren't all horsepower queens. They build and mod the cars SOLELY to be better on the track, so the dyno numbers are pretty few and far between in comparison to most car forums.^^The "frankenlotus" as it were is a recent thing, but the car has been a test mule for BWR for a while yeah. The quick release stuff and the door latch are <3.There's a guy on lotustalk that sells a tilting clam mod for the El/Ex that gets you access to the full engine bay in under 5 minutes. VERY trick and it only weighs a good 8-10lbs.There are several really badass projects like this that make me love this car and the community. People treat these cars with the love of the track they deserve.http://sector111spyder.blogspot.com/http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f3/stig-made-me-do-59435/And so many semi-production mods it's unreal.[Edited on July 23, 2008 at 2:42 PM. Carbon Fiber Turbo EliseFor sale on ebay, 50k is a steal. 1700lbs, full carbon fiber body and a 275+hp turbo kit. Fully track prepped, sequential transmission, and still perfectly revertable to street legal. There are only three CF bodied Elises in the world, and this is the only one in the US and the only one that isn't a showcar.
10/9/2008 9:43:57 PM
50k - reserve not met? how can you say it's a steal
10/9/2008 9:47:52 PM
^i think he's looking for ~75k as a minimum bid, which is still less than half the cost of the car.And at 75k would be about the cost of a brand new S240 exige with less power and 300 pounds heavier.
10/9/2008 11:44:24 PM
you can't go off ebay as a guide for what its final selling price isppl on ebay are stupid
10/9/2008 11:45:57 PM
im going off his posts on LotusTalk, not ebay
10/10/2008 2:38:59 PM
Isn't this roughly equivalent to paying 70k for a turbo Miata ?
10/15/2008 2:54:10 PM
^ I see what you are trying to say, but simply put, "NO."
