Soo...I've been hearing about a workout called P90X for a while now and have heard nothing but amazing reviews about it.Done some research and I dont know if I'm just falling for the gimmicks, but it seems that there's tons of success stories to go along with it.I mean, it's no secret that "muscle confusion" is the way to go, but this program seems pretty solid...Has anyone here tried it?http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.do?code=P90XDOTCOM

i saw one of their commercials one night and the first thing i noticed was that the people who went on that program weren't in terribly bad shape to begin with. they went from decent to ripped. i think if it had less of a retarded name (P90X, really?) it might seem more appealing.

I ordered it, I considered myself in alright shape like only a couple of extra pounds, this shit made me not want to walk for like a week lol. I couldnt keep up with the demands so I am doing some of the workouts to get myself into better shape before trying it again for real. It definitely comes with lots of good stuff. Its a pretty thick packet with diet info and for keeping records and such. You are gonna wanna allocate a lot of space as well, my bedroom in my apartment just doesnt provide enough room for everything. It is most definitely not made for people who are in average or just ok shape. If you are in good shape and looking to push to another level though this seems pretty great. Its 6 days a week for at least an hour a day though so make sure you have the time and it does require sticking with a diet. I was expecting it to be a diet where I didnt get to eat, but instead you are eating like 3-4k calories a day just good calories, because you are gonna need em to survive some of the workouts.

My buddy did it and went from being ~20 lbs overweight to being cut with a minor 6 pack in ~90 days.He also dieted pretty hardcore and worked out on 90-95% of the days. If you're committed you can transform your body in 90 days no problem but the motivation has to come from within, not from some gimmick.The workout itself I will vouch for I've done a few and witnessed a few and its solid.Its made more for people who are overweight that want to get jacked than underweight guys who want to pack on muscle though.

there's the 84 day thing that guy did on youtube which is the most hardcore thing i've ever seen. guy was a slob. in 84 days he was ripped to shreads. he took photos each day and documented what he ate and excersizes on his blog. AWESOME !this p90x stuff i'm sure its good, but don't be fooled by the commercials. most of those guys the before and after pics are of professional body builders or amateurs. the before is them when their in their off training cycle.i dated a chick that was IBFF fitness competitor and she did the same thing. when she was competing she'd put on the pounds and eat a lot of chocolate cake and ice cream all day. when it was nearing a fitness even she'd be hardcore for like 2-3 months and be totally ripped again. she actually got paid doing the before and after pics before for some shake company.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm not in horrible shape, but I could stand to lose 15 pounds that I accumulated through 4 years of college drinking And I'm not afraid of a diet. They pretty much tell you depending if you want to tone or gain mass to vary all the weights. If you want to build mass if you are doing more than 8 reps on an exercise you need to increase the weight.

True its built for building some muscle while burning a lot of fat hence the whole getting ripped thing. So if ripped with decent mass is what you are going for which Im guessing most guys are then its does that job, if you are wanting to get really big then Drovkin is probably right.

The P90x program is really designed for those who have finished the P90 original program.If you are just starting to try real exercise then I would start with P90, which will get you in decent shape in 90 days(although the cardio isn't enough towards the end, imo).P90x isn't the most extreme program out there but for the average person, I don't think that you'd be able to stick with it without some "base" at the beginning, so to speak.

Yep pretty much, I just went throught the workouts, figured out what I can actually do, and have been trying to use some of that to work on my base before I give it another solid go. When you cant actually physically do some of the routine then it doesnt help ya a whole lot haha, some of the Ab exercises I seriously just could not physically do made me feel sad

My buddy Mike is doing this, he's lost about 10 pounds in the first month. He wasn't in horrible shape to begin with, but the change has been pretty noticeable. He said the hardest part for him isn't the workouts (though he said he could barely move after the first couple days) it's trying to keep his diet in line.

My gf and I have/did this as well.Agreed, its fucking tough. This isnt 6min abs or some shit. its like 150 pull ups in an hour. hah i can get through them all, but def not the number of reps they do. The cardio ones are good and not as hard as the strength ones imo. i also think the host, Tony whatever, is kinda goofy/funny and not super macho and annoying like other videos. There are options on the disc to turn off the people, to turn off the timers, and other options to change the videos up so they don't get super repetitive.I quit after a month or so.. my gf kept at (she's stronger and in better shape than me) and finished it. we still go back to certain workouts that we like and do them every few days.So, no its not a gimmick, its FO REAL, SON.[Edited on July 15, 2008 at 6:03 PM. I just realized this was P90x. Dude grab P90 first. My buddy did that and got pretty jacked and he was pudgy.Then grab P90x if you want to upgrade.Don't start on a program like X if you aren't already in shape you will get discouraged and burned out too quickly.

After seeing the infomercial, it looks like you would pop this in and do it at home. How many days a week to you use the program? I'm in pretty good shape, lift weights, run and spin or do something 5-6 days a week, but would definitely like to switch it up and cut about 10lbs.

But you also have to buy a membership to a gym to do Crossfit...and have enough discipline to be able to do it by yourself. And you can't do Crossfit at every gym. I've got a membership to a gym that has a location in downtown Charleston and in Mt. Pleasant 15 minutes outside of town....and with the space in the gym downtown, there is no way you can do Crossfit there.And if you want to do it at home...you have to spend a decent amount of money off the bat for some good equipment. And that's if you have enough space to do it at home/in the yard.There are benefits and limitations to every type of workout program.
