Well, money's tight these days (Rx-7 runs very well now but it sucked up all my loot naturally), so I am trying to get into some non-car projects that involve tinkering/wrenching/modifying or whatever. Cars are just so damn expensive, even the "uber cheap" projects are going to cost at least $1000+ eventually, plus I am going back to school in the fall so I won't have large blocks of time. One of my friends has been getting into modding riding lawnmowers. This sounds like a cool idea but it won't work due to space considerations (about to move into a townhouse w/ no garage and I keep the Rx-7 at my parents' place in north raleigh).Another friend of mine randomly bolt some Nerf guns at Walmart and found out that there are Nerf forums so he's been modding the guns with custom paint jobs and "free mods" for more firing range. Total cost: ~$10 for at least a dozen hours of project time.Anybody got any ideas? Something electronic would be cool possibly as long as I don't have to spend $Texas or have to hunt down a ton of bs parts.

give me a general range of the cost of RC cars. Obviously it all depends how hardcore you get, whether you get stuff secondhand, etc.

-note-I did a nearly complete buildup of a BMX bike a few years back, and then never rode the thing other than back and forth to class(although the candy red & metallic base powdercoat job is fucking awesome)
