this is the second video I recall seeing of McCain not remembering what his stance on an issue was.

So do we vote for someone who can't remember his positions...

..or someone who keeps changing his positions?

Glad everyone realizes it.

Pity we can't do anything practical about it.

I'll reiterate to my chagrin: Obama's got this locked.

"Old" is a tough sell in this political climate, and McCain's not doing himself any favors with this...

^ *Sigh* I think you're right. It's Obama's race to lose and I just don't see him fucking up bad enough to lose it.

That reminds me. If liberals threaten to move to Canada when the shit hits the fan, where do conservatives threaten to move?

^ Well, I can speak for most conservatives when I say we generally don't threaten to leave our beloved country like many idiot liberals do. We stay here and fight for what's right--except for Stephen Baldwin. Apparently, he's threatened to leave if McCain wins, but I don't think anybody cares.

I mean, I don't know what's up with those Baldwins--always threatening to leave to country if this politician or that one gets elected. Just ask Alec how his 2000 "threat" to leave concerning Bush's election worked out.

^ ha

why would they go to canada? The tax situation is still far worse there than here.. even if obama gets elected.

i just hope there's enough deadlock in the house and senate such that most social policies fail to pass...

try a conservative 15 seat gain in the house and atleast 4-5 senate seats

(conservative meaning it could go much higher, not political ideology)

I'm not going anywhere regardless of who wins... and I'm not going to make some ignorant and meaningless threat like "I'm going to Canada". I believe this speaks for most of the conservatives I know.

I take it back
After threatening to expatriate themselves if Bush won the election, most would-be celebrity defectors put the back pedal to the metal.

how the fuck can you not state your position on a simple item such as birth control coverage by health insurance companies? guess he's gotta check upstairs before saying either way.

That's the kind of shit you get into when half of your base is the irrational religious right.

Exactly. If the election goes radical enough, there will be a fight within the Democratic party between the true believers and the old guard politicians. I would not be surprised (though I wouldn't predict it) if the Republicans took over one of the houses of congress by the end of Obamas term.

Frankly, I'd be pretty comfortable with an Obama presidency and a Republican congress freed of the hideous ghost of George Bush and jolted back into a mode of fiscal conservatism by a Democratic president. That kind of situation might be our only hope at fixing the Social Security / Medicare / Medicaid dilemma.
