you search google for hotmail.com and then click on a link to get there?isn't that a lack of functionality? lol

people still use hotmail?
7/10/2008 10:27:37 AM
I do, I have no reason to switch really and Im not missing any features I want.
7/10/2008 10:30:37 AM
i could see if you didn't want to switch from yahoo to gmailbut c'mon, hotmail is like AOL now

I have no reason to switch. I have had this email account for going on my 6th year and dont feel like messing with anything as far as changing addresses goes. I really dont have a reason to switch. I'm sure people that utilize what gmail offers think it is idiotic to still use hotmail but I doubt I would use anything gmail has to offer that I am not getting from hotmail so I dont really care.

what it has to "offer" is not (necessarily) better features, but an overall better experience and vastly superior interface. I don't know, for example, why every webmail maker in the world hasn't completely cloned Conversation View for their own interface yet.

i only use hotmail because it was an old account that i just started registering for commercial things, services, etc...i like my personal gmail to be from actual people, not corporate commercial bullshit[Edited on July 10, 2008 at 11:29 AM. Reason : .]

^^I mean I have a gmail account too as a secondary one that I started maybe 3 years ago just to see what it was like and it hasnt wow'd me enough to say "im never using hotmail again!" so I've kept it as my secondary. not that I think it is secondary to hotmail at all, just for what I do I dont have a reason to switch.and yes conversation view is nice but I rarely send enough emails to utilize it. Small talk stuff I end up sending facebook mail because people respond quicker, and when I can I always make a phone call instead of an email for bigger stuff that I am not worried about keeping a record of. I pretty much just receive tons of statements that I want to track and keep in one spot (and dont feel like changing the primary email for all those accounts) and in the case of my band's hotmail account it just gets all of our merch orders and show information stuff, usually not emails that have replies.[Edited on July 10, 2008 at 11:37 AM. i recently got a true appreciation for conversation view when i was getting tons of emails from a friend who does not use gmail. what should have been condensed into a few conversations was spread out over like 30 different emails. it was really annoying, and the fact that most of the subjects were generic like "oh yeah..." didn't help at all. but that is user error.
