So I am going to replace my pads and rotors myself and was wondering if I should buy just the regular pads and rotors? Or upgrade them to premium, or ultra premium? What is the big difference between them. I'm getting them from napa auto. The cheap pads are about 20 dollar bucks for a pair and $40 a piece for the rotors. The upgraded ones are signifcantly higher at like 40 for pads and 60 for each rotor. Should I buy the more expensive ones or are they just a gimic?thanks t-dub. oh and 1991 lincoln town car sig. series.

I would venture to guess that the more expensive ones last longer, but I guess it all depends on how much and what type of driving you do.That being said, I always buy the cheap ones and I also change them myself. The case can be made however, that since you are changing them yourself you are already saving yourself a couple hundred dollars. So why not go ahead and buy the more expensive ones?

I'd get whichever pads have a lifetime warranty from Autozone.I have a warranty on mine, and havent paid for pads in probably 4 or 5 changes.

I just changed pads on an Accord and had to change them again because the cheapos had a squealing noise that was not going to go away. The dumbass at the store didnt know anything when I asked him, but after talking to a mechanic he said some cars need the fiberglass finish or they will squeek. I would spend the few extra bucks and get some good pads after having gone through it.

Yeah I put a set of the cheapest "wear ever" ones on my old exploder and they squeled like a motherfucker it was quite embarrassing.
