They sound alike of course. Who came first and did one copy off the other?I already tried google with different choices of words. Nothing. Anybody know?

Both of these songs rock, but the LIVE versions really kick ass.Iron Butterfly Live, and in-a-gadda in particular is awesome.great lead solo, great organ solo.Sunshine, Live Cream Vol II makes the studio recording sound like some gay little Simon and Garfunkel tune.

Thanks marko but I checked all the links that google gave and wiki was on there. You seriously don't think they sound alike? I can't tell them apart but I also have not heard them playing their signature rifs side by side.

I don't think they're alike at all.I mean, they're similar, but the intervals aren't the same and they're not in the same order. Plus, the break in "In a Gadda Da Vida" is totally different than the "Sunshine of Your Love" chorus. ]

yeah...I know the whole songs don't sound alike but there are similarities that seem to have been created around the same time.Give me a link that lets me hear them at the same time bc they are different but there are spots in both songs that sound way familiar....and my little brother who knows nothing about this type of music will not quit saying that Iron Butterfly copied Cream.

I know the three note sections that you are referring to that are the same intervals in the same order, but keep in mind that there are only twelve notes in Western music.
