anyone got some tips and pointers? i think there use to be a few older threads but i searched and didnt see anything


know i'm gonna get OJ and grape juice...what others do you suggest(love pomegranate stuff but the 100% kind is like fucking 5 dollars for 10oz or some shit)...gonna do this until monday so its gonna be a short 3 day detox

They are pointless. If your body couldn't filter out the toxins it takes in, you would die. Even more pointless if you are using the sugar- and chemical-laden brands of juice, which it sounds like you will be.

ok OJ, cranberry, and grape juice so far



i figure if you need about 8 cups of water a day when you are eating food you probably need like about a gallon of juices a day to survive...gallon of OJ(concentrate but i may buy the expensive shit if i'm gonna try this), gallon of cranberry(get the 100 percent shit of that), half gallon of grape juice(100 percent no doubt, that 13% shit sucks)

* you should not feel hungry if you keep drinking the lemondae. if you do feel hungry, you just have a few gulps and voila! no more hungry.
* clothes look good again and you fit into your skinny jeans again!

the ingredients: technically, you're supposed to make a couple of fresh batches each day to maximize the potency of the lemons. however, here in the REAL world, people have to work, so i usually make a big batch to last the entire day. here's what to get:
* 3 of the 2.5 gallon Arrowhead spring water jugs (the big ones with spouts). these should last about 10 days, depending on how much you drink.
* 5 large bags of lemons. you're supposed to use organic lemons, but i don't roll in the money so i got regulars and it's been fine. organic lemons = $1.99 each, 1 bag of 8 reg lemons = $3.99. you do the math and see if it's worth it to you.
* grade B organic maple syrup. i totaled 3 jugs from Whole Foods for the 11 days. i bought their 360 brand.
* 1 bottle of powdered cayenne pepper. NOT the pills, NOT the whole peppers. you can get this in the spice aisle at any market.
* non-iodized sea salt for the morning flush.
* laxative tea. i got chocolate flavored Smooth Move but there are tons of choices.

the recipe for 1 day:
* 80 oz. of spring water into a plastic jug, or whatever you plan to transport it in. i used an 88 oz. rubbermaid drink carrier to account for adding the syrup and lemon juice.
* juice from 4 lemons, squeezed fresh each morning.
* 16 teaspoons of maple syrup.
* several dashes of cayenne pepper. on average, i shook in about 10-15 full dashes (sometimes the powder sticks, so you end up with little half dashes), but i can take a pretty darn spicy drink, so you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
* shake well and enjoy throughout the day. i mixed everything together each night, then squeezed the lemons the next morning to save time.

the schedule: you should start the cleanse on a saturday if possible to get used to the bathroom runs, the preparing of the lemonade, the time it takes your body to flush after the salt water, etc.
* thursday and friday before cleanse: start cutting dairy and red meats from your diet to ready your body for flushing.

DNL, think about what you are doing. Getting very little to no protein and fat, and a ton of sugar. That isn't the best thing you could do for your body.

it really depends on what you're trying to cleanse - liver? kidneys? colon? everything?

if you are really serious about this, invest in a juicer and make your own juice.

I also have a good detox yoga sequence that you could do in combination with the juice.

changing for 3 days isn't gonna do shit.. you need to constantly stop free radicals. sure it's a start, but something less extreme over a much longer period of time seems like a hell of a lot better idea

anyways, i'll leave this thread alone..just saying..think about it

No wonder you lose weight! No fat/protein/complex carbs or anything healthy. And you'll wonder why your body gains everything back after you stop the stupidity.

The best way to get healthy is to eat appropriate amounts of balanced food, exercise, and get enough sleep (8 hours.) And stop drinking things besides water.

If you are going to drink juice concoctions, try ones from veggies (Vit. A, iron, Vit.C, etc.) Also, for fruit, most berries are excellent sources of antioxidants and Vitamin C. Mixing in yogurt will also give protein, live cultures, and calcium.

While there may be some psychological benefits for you, I can assure you there are no physiological benefits. Drinking juice for three days is silly. Just sit and think about what you are doing.

i bought a book on detoxing, it has a juice regiment but i plan to go the veggie route to try it out because it is less intense

you basically spend a week eating brown rice and steamed veggies, (but you have to drink the water you steam the vegetables in to get the nutrients) and all your eating is on a very strict schedule.

their thinking is that if you stay on this for a week or so that you will eventually get used to eating more vegetables and grains and taking time to fix your food.....so maybe you will continue to eat better (but not as strict) once you finish your detox. they want you stay away from sweets and pastries so that you eventually stop craving them. then if you want to try to juice detox, they have several recipes for home made juices (including the lemonade with the cayenne pepper) and they even have a smoothie detox plan (which they also recommend BEFORE the juice detox).

i've had friends who couldn't stay on the steamed vegetable detox program, so i can't imagine how hard it would be to just drink juice for a week.

the book i have is called "the new detox diet" and i would recommend at least going to b&n and looking through a book or speaking to a doctor before you start one of these programs so that you don't end up hurting yourself more than helping.


oh also, you should be making your own juice........ you really don't want to be drinking a bunch of sugary processed mess or you are negating the purpose of the detox. detoxing attempts to take all the processed crap you have been putting into your body back out... so putting in more processed liquids is not gonna help.
